Clean shelter with plenty of space for taking walks on. There are hardly any animals (which is good?!) and they let the few stay in the shelter so they can be adopted. They could help out other shelters which are overloaded so their space can be used.

NOT a no kill shelter. Took a kitten in with something wrong with its arm. We called and left a message regarding the situation and they called back saying 100% take the kitten in to see them. They didn't even take images/x-rays to see what was wrong, just claimed it was hissing and swatting. Obviously.. it's in pain, it’s arm was broken or dislocated! Then called an hour later to say they euthanized it instead of treating it. Absolutely unacceptable. We even asked for them to call before they euthanized it so we could take it to a vet instead and they refused and just euthanized it instead. The kitten was fighting to live and they took its life. Beyond disappointed. Do better. DO NOT take your animals here!

I went there to look at cats, cause l lost my fur baby last week due to I'll health. I always go there because they have the nicest and kindest staff.

I had a good experience with Hayward Animal Shelter when I called in on a Saturday for a found older male dog. I was in fear for this poor old fellow because he seemed lost and by the fact of is age. They told me they would come and pick him up as soon as the could. To my surprise it was quite quickly. I call 3 days later for an update on the doggie an he was reunited with his family!

You can get them back of they didn't take them from you for abuse. But if they found them you should be able to get them for a little fee. Because they spade/neu and give rabies shots I believe
Coincidentally not, unless you volunteer. On the first Saturday of the month at 9:00 am you can have information on how to become a volunteer.
Yes there is a site called (paws)
You can adopt here. There is all kinds of listing on their website and in store.
Yes, Hayward Animal Shelter is open Tuesday - Saturday 1p to 5p.
Sorry for your loss. My your furbaby rest in peace Yes Hayward shelter takes donations of food.
Do you still have it? I'm looking for a small pet
They had a special Dog Fair the day I went . Adoption was free and they gave my lil guy his shots and, unfortunately, neutered him. They also chipped him. I think they sent him off to another location for that though. I had to pick him up a week after adoption. I really suggest that place. 👍
Check with shelter. They periodically have low cost spay and vaccines vouchers
I hope you found your pup by now. If not, try the Next Door app. I've seen many pups and owners reunited with community assistance.
Yes you can. You would just need to provide proof that the pet is yours and I'm almost positive they well vaccinate and neuter or spade the animal while they have it with them, then pay a fee.
If you foster, you can do that. You would have to get details from the shelter.
No birds currently. You would need to contact the Shelter directly. This is just a review board.
Please call the shelter. Don't leave your pet there
No they do not
They're not a boarding facility, sorry - just for lost and surrendered animals
Very hard to get help from Hayward animal shelter..may be some people can help..but not animal shelter..
It's included in the adoption fee....
I think you better talk to the shelter itself. I don't know if they're taking any volunteers due to The Covid pandemic
Not sure but I would ask. Staff I have spoken to has been helpful.
Yes you can.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask that. I would recommend calling the shelter to ask about zeus. Other than that i can only say it would be up to the hearing officer
I thought that was the fire dept, but any of those seem to be good. They are the one with the ladders
Just called the shelter let them know what happened they will work with you
They do not do boarding. They do however accept a rabbit in their shelter.
Yep, few days and Have to pay the Fees and Sometimes they're neutered sometimes are not I believe You have to get that done before You're able to adopt the pet and take it home. One thing for sure your life will be so happy You will never be lonely.
Try the Oakland SPCA clinic- the Hayward shelter doesn't offer vet services. Good luck
Sadly, yes- and they'll be euthanized if not adopted.
Sadly, no- they only take animals
I'm not sure if they typically cover Hayward, but in our case _Island Cat Resources and Adoption_ (ICRA) based in Alameda was able to help by providing a live trap and assisting with spaying. http://icraeastbay.org/
Yes, My daughter has a small hamster. We have everything for her, food, cage, bedding, bath powder, wheel, and bath bow, and treats. Would you like to have it?
Call shelter
No I don't...sorry
I think so, they definitely have rabbits.
Golden Retriever* maybe
Call the hayward animal shelter or tha hayward police department and they can advise you. There is a complaint process you need to follow. This isnt the animal shelter itself, we are just a group of reviewers. Good luck.
I really don't know... you would have to check with right organization..
If that is your true intention I thinks it's a good idea if the cats dont have a owner but some trappers kill cats after trapping because they are a nuisance to them but that is very very cruel and illegal .
Yes, the shelter usually has rabbits. You may want to call and ask. Shelter openn Saturday's 1-5pm.
I would assume that you would get paid if you have experience and apply for a position that states that its a paid position. But not likely if you're just trying to be there cause of a bf.
Call the Hayward Animal Shelter
Yes. They can safely retrieve them.
Not that I'm aware of. Call them. Very friendly staff..
Not sure but it takes less time to call them, then it did to contact me...lol.
They are a public shelter. Legally, they have to take in every animal that comes in through their doors. Because of that, they sometimes have to euthanize for lack of space. Lately, the H.A.S. has been receiving a lot of help from local rescues and non-profit shelters, that they have more room. More room=less euthanasia
Call the Hayward PD they will send Animal Control and they will catch it and take it to the shelter, or you can rent a cat trap from the shelter and bring it in yourself
Call your local animal control. They will come pick it up
did she end up having a chip?
I know they have lots of volunteers, call the shelter and ask
Try the humane society.
Thank you!!
Call the shelter, they will ask you questions and it might not even cost you anything
Call or visit for information.
This is a review board. You would need to contact the Shelter directly.
You'd have to contact the Shelter directly. This is just a review board, not the Shelter. I do know they have lots of dogs tho! :)
Off leash dogs can be reported to animal control or the police non emergency number.
You can become a Foster
