IN FULL NOSEDIVE - SURPRISED NOT CLOSED DOWN - CHOICE OF PALATE-CONFUSING "FUSION" OR PLAIN BORING - 1980s DATED From our experience last evening: (1) Only two waitresses for the entire floor and patio; (2) waitress breaks the cork of an expensive bottle of Burgundy (which needed decanting anyway), cork possibly dried out due to improper storage; (3) wine list completed dated; (4) soggy beef wantons (stupid sugary "fusion" junk) swimming in pool of grease; rubber gasket calamari on a bed of what looked like vomit; (5) two- to three-day old, "bread" exploding into crumbs at the touch so it couldn't even be buttered—waitress couldn't care less about gathering the crumbs covering the whole table; (6) Mr. "Classically Trained" in the kitchen evidently thinks lamb medium rare means well done and serves it on a damnable heap of flavorless quinoa with a side of haricots verts many of which are untrimmed, and no sauce whatsoever; (7) a persistent, filthy fly buzzing about; (8) I had to get up and track down a manager to get a simple salt and pepper shaker on our table; (9) candle burned out never to be replaced by missing-in-action waitress; (10) halfway through the meal wait staff never to be seen again; (11) never had our water refilled and never received the Pellegrino we ordered, leaving us dehydrated; (12) had to find manager again just to get the check so we could leave without dessert. A complete disaster from beginning to end!

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel I stayed. Staff is friendly. The service is good. Food is at reasonable price range and tasted good. They have special for two people every Wednesday and Thursday.

Go for the food - stay for the ambiance. I don’t care where in town you live, you have to come and eat on the patio here. The food is always delicious. The wait staff is great and the atmosphere is tranquil and stunning and the same time. I frequent the dinner for 2 specials on Wednesday/Thursday nights. It’s appropriately priced for a 3 course meal and includes your choice of white or red wine. You will never be disappointed with what is on the chefs menu for the evening (only open after 5pm) Pro tip: find out when sunset is and make your reservations for 30/45 min before. Seeing the sunset will show how the Sandia Mts got their name.

My husband took me here for my birthday. We had never been here before. We will be back!!! The setting was delightful...a beautiful garden, many busy hummingbird feeders, an amazing view of the Sandia Mountains, beautiful pueblo style interior. Our waitress, Francesca, was perfect! Our food was amazing! My husband's ribeye steak was done to perfection! My cast iron smoked chicken was delicious! A perfect evening!

As of March 8, 2021, Prairie Star is currently offering carryout of a prix-fixe menu on Wednesday and Saturday evenings by pre-order. We are operating with an extremely limited staff, and are observing all CDC and hospitality industry standards for safety and sanitation. The premises are regularly sanitized with a state-of-the-art Clorox 360 electrostatic system. Though we are following NM Public Health orders and Pueblo of Santa Ana guidelines, we will remain closed for on-property dining until such time reopening is deemed secure for the long run.
Hi Dottie, I understand you have already spoken to the manager and are set with a reservation tonight. Thank you and enjoy!
