Easy to moderate trail that sees a lot of people and their dogs. The waterfall and the surrounding forest and mountains are beautiful. Good bear habitat but there’s almost zero chance to see any wildlife because it is so crowded with people.

It's almost an hour hike from Telluride. We went in May. There was descent amount of snow on the trail which increased towards the waterfall. It's a stunning scenic view at the waterfall.

Parked at the Mountain Village Gondola Parking Garage (free) and took the gondola (also free) to Telluride. Drops you off about 2 blocks from the trailhead. Best way to go if you want to avoid parking in Telluride

My wife and I had a great time hiking the Bear Creek Trail. It took us about 3 hours to hike up the 2.2 miles (1000 feet of elevation) to the upper falls, and about an 1.5 hours back down. The views are magnificent the entire way. We hiked the trail in early November (off season) so there weren't too many people. We probably only saw 6 couples or groups of people the entire time. The trail is a little rocky and muddy with some snow this time of year, so wear good hiking boots. Put on some sunscreen or wear a hat, you'll be in the sun for a good portion of the hike. Bring some water, and something to sit on if you want to take breaks. There are no benches and the ground can be wet. Be ready to take a lot of pictures. This hike is worth the effort!

Anywhere along the street that isn't designated for the people who live at the base of the mountain :)

Is there any bears there?

I didn't see any sign of bears. There are normally a lot of people going up and down the trail, which would GENERALLY keep bears away.

Where do you park to start the trail in the town park

There is parking by the post office on Colorado Ave or by Maple & Colorado Ave. Or anywhere in town with meter parking should be ok. Special events and festivals will impact parking availability.
