I have participated in two auctions, wining several items at both, and paying (sometimes overpaying) in a timely fashion. The first auction went well! I won several smaller items and two larger ones. The larger ones, a drill press and a walk behind tiller, I figured would fit well in the bed of my pickup. I drove the 3 hours one way, to the auction site to pick up these items. Since the drive was long, I asked my mother, who is 63 years old, if she wanted to come along for a ride. Paid in cash and was told to follow an elderly gentleman to collect my items. He lead me to a shipping container, where I figured the tools and drill press would be. Everything else, including a water pump, could be outside in the weather. Nope! The water pump was in the shipping container! The drill press was sitting outside collecting RUST which was not present in the photos at time of bidding. I was furious! But bit my tongue. The gentleman who was escorting my mother and I around barely said two words, simply pointed to the items and watched me struggle to lift them. Fortunately, my elderly mother was with me, as she had to help me load the drill press and tiller. The guy did nothing to help! If I'd known that was how it was going to be, no one there to help load, or, maybe its this auction companies policy to not be helpful, I would have brought a friend! Fortunately, the drill press does work, and after a few hours of scrubbing rust, it looks useable. I chalked this auction up as a learning experience. Don't trust them to keep valuable items out of the weather, and bring a strong friend who can help load, OR simply not bid on large items. But this story is not done! Oh no, dear readers, it gets worse, much worse! Next auction was their firearms holiday auction. Not much to pick from, but there was a 'bucket list pistol" for sale! What appeared to be an 1860 Colt Army revolver, black powder pistol. These are available almost everywhere, nothing special about this one, but I wanted it! I already have a few black powder pistols and rifles. I'm somewhat of a collector. And since I need to drive the 3 hours one way, I figured I should bid on other items as well, make the trip worth while. So I bid on some tools and some other items that I lost. Ended up spending too much, again, but hey, least I got the pistol! This time, I stayed away from the larger, heavy items, and focused on the smaller. After winning the pistol and some tools, I contacted the company and was informed that they were closed on my day off work. I needed to take off a day. So I drive the 3 hours, get there, pay in cash like before, and the same gentleman is going to help me. I bring my pickup over to the same shipping containers where he is waiting. I load the small tools, this time he is speaking to me, so that is helpful, but only to inform me that the pistol is not where it should be! We went back inside to the gal in the office. This gentleman informs her that the pistol is not in the shipping container. Let me run that by you again, THE PISTOL IS NOT IN THE SHIPPING CONTAINER! My first question is: WHY was a PISTOL in a SHIPPING CONTAINER?! The gal behind the desk said it must be "here" or "there." Which it wasn't. She contacted the FFL thinking it may have been shipped there thinking it was a modern firearm. Nope, not there either. She starts texting Chuck, who apparently cannot talk on the phone, but can text. He apparently said that he knows that pistol is in the shipping container. We go look again, but the shipping container is mostly empty. A few boxes, one containing another black powder pistol, but not mine. Part 2 is from TractorsNStuff, my YouTube channel account. Lousy worthless auction company. Better call way ahead of time to give them a deposit on nothing just so you can bid, even though you’re already an approved bidder on AuctionTime.
