How difficult is it to transfer to Local 9 in Colorado to Local 12 in San Diego. Looking to come back home. Does the pension transfer and how does the health insurance work? Also what’s the hall look like I am a Experienced Tower Crane operator

The health insurance works great. I have heard it is not hard to transfer back here. I would call the local 12 hall about the pension. The hall can also tell you what the list is like.

I am a veteran at Veterans Village San Diego and I was interested in becoming a heavy equipment operator. How can I go about getting information about courses in the San Diego area to pursue this?

Go to https://www.oett.net/ This is the website for the apprenticeship program through the operating engineers local 12. There are no courses offered at schools for heavy equipment. If you see any type of program that offers a certificate for heavy equipment operation it is a scam. There are only two certification / licenses in the heavy equipment world. Forklift certification and crane operating license. For everything else it comes down to if you know how to operate the equipment. The apprenticeship program will teach you how to operate equipment. It does not cost anything, you just have to pass the entrance exam for the apprenticeship and work your way through the program. If you have more questions you can go to the local 12 hall and the people there can answer any questions you may have about the program.

Do local 12 members have access to information regarding the number of operator requests from employers/number dispatched per week/month? Thanks

We as operators have coordinators and business agents etc that are also members that can help answer these sort of questions. So to get that kind of information we must go through the proper channels and speak with the right people (members) that work for the union hall
