I thought Unions are supposed to be organized? This one certainly isn't! I only recently joined and am likely going to revoke my membership after getting the run around during the Turkey giveaway for Thanksgiving. I ended up wasting gas and my time for nothing, no turkey, no apology for calling me and saying they were waiting for me to come, less than 15 minutes later I am there, alone. Not a person in sight. This is after I was told two different times for the event, then I got a call from Linda (I guess works at the union office) as I was walking out the door to go to the event, who tells me to come now (already on my way) and says she'll be there with a refrigerated truck with my turkey, no problem.....I drive from Vista to San Marcos, less than 15 minute drive, and the place is deserted when I get there. Why the phone call Linda? Why bother to call and say you're waiting for me, then leave anyway? So I call the regional office, no one ever returns my call to even acknowledge what happened, when I called the number Linda had dialed me from, the only voice mail was in Spanish, which I don't speak. I was going to try to get some PPE supplies, but after reading the reviews, I think I'll just quit the union instead. Very disappointing, I was looking forward to be a union member because I know they can really advocate for workers, apparently not this union.

I called and asked for assistance these people that answer can’t even understand English and will definitely tell you to call this section or that section. When you do you get referred back to UDW. If I press 1 for English I expect my representative to be fluent in understanding and writing and listening to English.

The UDW helped me obtain full time hours for my caring for my mother, and Helped speed up the process through IHSS. They are helpful and willing to go the extra mile for its members. I'm, happy to be part of the UDW family. Without there help I could still be collecting 51 hours which doesn't go very far in San Diego

I love My United Domestic Workers Local 3930. They have been there for me through thick and thin. Although I have not been active in a while with My Volunteering due to Care for My Mom. And My Son. I love UDW very much. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

Questions & Answers

Does a union member receive some kind of pension once they stop working?

Glenna Calvert | Aug 27, 2021

Absolutely NOT. NO PENSION from this union. I'm finding this out after having worked for over 25 years. I can't even get in touch with the union Rep. To speak with them about getting a paper denying me a pension for social security purposes.

in regards to my first question is there any help out there for this faithfull worker?

Yes, they have a lot of programs there to checkout, for example a food pantry and a place to get information about the next food distribution.
