Purchased a birthday gift from REI for delivery and the package hasn't been shipped.. several weeks after the stated delivery date. Way after the recipient's birthday has come and gone.

A heads up. I guess REI (or at very least this store) requires a membership to shop there. I am an occasional REI shopper (never to this store) and just never got a membership (though it probably would have paid for itself by now). I spent a lot of time looking for clothing and gear for an upcoming trip. It was a bit frustrating since I needed particular colors, fabrics, and sizes. I can't really blame them for that but I definitely didn't find everything I needed. When I got to the register I was told I had to have a membership to shop there. I didn't see any signs stating that and I'm not sure when that started (I haven't been to REI since pre-pandemic). Sure it would have just been easier to spend $30, and I'm guessing that is what they're hoping for, but I needed to go somewhere else anyways so figured I would just do all my shopping there. Also it felt like a bait and switch since I don't remember anything indicating that I had to have a membership (though I'll admit I wasn't necessarily looking for anything like that either).

I went to the San Carlos store a year ago to get measured for ski boots and was told my last (width) was 104. One year later I was measured and my last is 102. ???? Gabby was very knowledgeable and I purchased a new pair of boots. Then the manager says they can't adjust my bindings because they were too old. Since the boot length was 1 mm shorter, it was not an issue and I enjoyed skiing on them yesterday. Saved $45 and the current 10 day wait.
