the IRS does not consider an inheritance a taxable item. However if it's an inheritance where you will make money such as renting an apartment then yes you will have to pay some sort of tax on the money that you make from The Inheritance otherwise the answer to your question is no
The remaining amount would be processed to whichever method you chose when you filed. You can check on your state refund at Maine.gov
