I had a cleaning and first appointment a couple months ago. Everyone was very nice and the cleaning was not uncomfortable; however, I was told once the dentist came in that I had needed 5 fillings (at age 26 I'd only every needed one before). I was so embarrassed and scheduled them right away. Once home I decided to get another opinion and was checked by another local dentist. This dentist told me I only had 3 small cavities. I am appalled that an office would take advantage of a patient like that, and I will now be under a new doctor's care.

My experience with Maine Family Dentist was excellent. The receptionists were friendly and very attentive. As a new patient I was able to fill out all necessary forms right on the website, which I highly recommend. I was called back w/I a matter of minuets. Each procedure was explained and I knew exactly what was taking place before it happened. The dental assistant who worked on me was friendly and very professional. One of the nicest offices I have been to.

Something that Management at this practice is doing is very right! When you walk into the place, everyone welcomes you! Wow! Everyone from the receptionist to the dental assistants is concerned about you and chats with you to make you feel relaxed and assured you that you are in great hands. Dr. Buxton is very good and he is very gentle too. Nicole and Dr. Buxton are great. Very friendly, flexible, funny, and relaxing. They will create a treatment plan that makes sense, not just the most expensive. The staff will work with you to schedule convenient appointments. They know you by name from the moment you walk in. They are genuinely concerned about their patients and get to know them. The entire staff alleviated my fears, made me feel comfortable, and provided excellent treatment. I actually look forward to going back. I can't say enough good things about this office... Parents are welcome to start bringing their children in before the age of one to become acquainted with the team and the office. Around the age of 2 is when we recommend children start coming in for regular dental visits. We will take their first x-rays around the age of 4-6.
At our office we offer CEREC Same-Day Crowns. This newer dental technology allows us to take a high-quality image of your tooth and create the dental crown within 20 minutes! Being able to create the crown and place it in the same day saves our patients several trips in that a traditional crown might require.
At our office we accept cash and all major credit cards for payment. For financing, we work with CareCredit. We also work with almost every kind of insurance, however, we aren't a preferred provider, which means we can decide exactly what work is needed without being held back by insurance companies. In our office to help with patients who have a fear of the dentist or anxiety we offer nitrous oxide. This is an odorless gas that doesn't put you to sleep but rather offers a sedative effect. You will be able to communicate with Dr. Buxton but will have a relaxed and painless experience. Contact our office if you have any questions.
If you are experiencing bleeding when brushing or flossing you may have some stage of gum disease. Contact our office to schedule a cleaning and exam to get properly diagnosed.
We offer dental extractions including wisdom tooth removal. If you are experiencing discomfort because of your wisdom teeth call us and we can help you determine if they need to be extracted.
Yes we do! We offer safe and effective in-house whitening. Dr. Buxton creates completely custom trays to ensure it is comfortable and he can also control the strength of the whitening gel.
