A great family adventure that does not take the entire day away! We took the 2 hour tour. It was very scenic and they did a great job with explaining all of the local details along the way. I hope they get the PA system fixed as that made it difficult to hear all the facts. They should think about limiting the age as there were some very frustrating toddlers on out train. We also had to stop twice as 3 other cars lost power a couple times along the way. It’s worth the cost if you like trains and knowing the local history.

Well that was disappointing. Paid $55 a person to have the “360 panoramic dome view seats” and this is the view we got. Couldn’t see a single thing the entire time. Yet you pay all this extra money to have the best view. You are better off going coach, windows were clear and as mentioned in other reviews from the owner they make sure they clean those ones. Just not the dome ones where people pay extra to make sure the at least get a glimpse of something. Stopped at attish mountain for roughly 15-20 minutes, sat there listening to obnoxious music directly in your face, huge waste of time. Drove nearly 5 hours for a massive let down, disappointed is an understatement. We are fully aware this was a “scenic ride” through the valley, but with barley any views to begin with and how dirty the windows were, we just wanted to get out and hop in our car and drive around and see the views…..much better cheaper option. Staff was very friendly, train was relatively clean on the inside (tables, seats, etc) if you like trains and the history of them, this is your place.

Was a great experience!! So glad we did it even though the weather was not perfect. The experience of riding in a 50's train was great while seeing NH White Mountains in the fall. It was past peak but still beautiful! The picnic lunch for gluten free was tasty.

We went on the Mountaineer train to Fabians. The ride was great. We were in the Hattie Evans car which included a very good sandwich lunch. The foliage was peak and the low cloud cover cleared as Mt Washington came into view. There were 2 very concerning logistical problems though. One: even though I had my tickets on my phone, I had to go inside the depot to get paper tickets. The depot was extremely crowded with no social distancing and lots of confusion over which line went to the bathroom and which one went to the ticket booth. The souvenir tickets were very nice but maybe not necessary during this pandemic. The second issue was with the snack bar. There was only one snack bar open for the whole train and the line backed up right beside our table seats. Therefore we were forced to look at everyone’s butts (almost sitting on our table!) Their bodies also blocked the views 😠. The return trip was better because interest in the snack bar had waned. Overall it was a beautiful scene.

Yes, you can pick up your tickets at our "Will Call" booth in front of our station. You can't miss it! Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
Yes they're right at the front when you board the train. They're also well kept and very clean.
There are two routes. One is "The Valley" line, which is about two hours round trip. The other is takes you up through Crawford Notch which is about 4.5 hours round trip.
There are Fall colors outside the windows of all of our trains, Scott. We don't have a specific "Fall Foliage Tour." Thanks for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad! Susan Logan, Marketing Manager
Yes, kids love. I would recommend the shorter 55-min Valley Train ride given the shorter attention span many youngsters have.
Yes, organized and run by the North Conway Model Railroad Club, located in the North end of our Freight House. The Club is open most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until late October, and its display is amazing. Thank you for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad! Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
Not at this time of the year. Dining service begins again in June 2019. Thanks for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad - and Happy New Year! My sister uses a wheelchair. The have a lift at main station but not at the stop over station. The wheelchair could not fit in the train cars but was able to store it folded up and use at the stop. I suggest you call and check. That is what I did. People are so very helpful.
Yes, it's on our website. Except for the first week of the month, when we're on a limited daily schedule, we have multiple Valley Trains as well as our Notch Train daily. https://www.conwayscenic.com/ Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
The Notch route goes through the mountains. Other routes are more in the valley.
Pricing differs based on which ride you take. There are several from which to choose. If you go to their website, you can look at the various prices by clicking the ticket icon, which will take you to all the different excursions available. From there you can choose first class, etc., which will help you with pricing that fits your family's budget. I wish I could say more, but the site will give you all the information you need. If you have any questions, call the ticket office. The folks there are very friendly and helpful.
The people there are so helpful. Am confident if you were to call and ask nicely they would help you.
Yes, I would suggest purchasing online to minimize the wait
Yes
Yes it does on weekends currently and if you look up our website, you can see what is available for future excursions. Please feel free to call the ticket office if you need further assistance at 603-356-5251 from 9 - 4 daily.
Yes. The right side sees most of the scenery on the way out but there is some on the left too. Then at the half way point y'all switch sides.
Right now..this week and next week!!!❤🍁🍂
Tukey and cheese, or ham and swiss or hummus and veggies. All Came with apple, water, cookie bag and a pickle.
Park in front or if your looking at the front of the station, drive to the right of the station, over the railroad tracks, and park in the back.
The train runs continuously 2 hours north to Crawford Notch. 45 minute stop. Then 2 hours back to Conway. No smoking on board, no smoke breaks along the way.
One well behaved dog is allowed on the coach cars only.
Conway Scenic has the ability to interchange cars with New Hampshire Central at Hazens, but we do not regularly use this connection.
We have never offered hobo lunch rides. Are you confusing us with the Hobo Railroad in Lincoln, NH?
This is incorrect information, please see below: There is no food allowed on any of the train cars. Depending on what excursion you are on, there are lunch packages that you can purchase for the premium seating of the "Mountaineer" to the Notch. On Coach seats and other first class cars, there is a concession cart that you can order from ala carte. Only other option is to purchase snack items from our gift shop only and bring them on the train. Valley rides, you can only purchase snacks from the gift shop and bring them on the cars. I dont know the miles. With Covid being in play everything takes longer. The tickets said 11am to 4pm we didn't leave until almost noon and didn't get back until after five. The trip is worth it. You do stop and there is a small shop but again covid is in play so you might not get in. Also this coming weekend is the end. So if your going book online or call to see if tickets available. The things you see from the train you can't capture on the road.
Mountaineer is pretty booked and we are at half the capacity due to COVID restrictions. All other trains book quickly this time of the year as well, I would look online for availability or call the ticket office for assistance.
It depends on several factors, the attendance for that train departure, the parking situation and whether or not you need specific seating. However I would arrive no later than 11 AM for 11:30 departure
There are three different trips with multiple ticket option for each I would suggest checking the website for further details
They say the lunch for the mounteneering train is supposed to be booked the night before, but if you booked the dining car, they may have lunches available last minute. If not you are allowed to bring your own food. Enjoy!
Hi Lulu, Well behaved dogs on a leash are allowed on our trains, in coach. Pricing for Mountaineer Coach is $62.00 per adult, $43.00 per child (4-12) and $13.00 per Infant (1-3). These prices change in September. Cheryl
Laura below stated the answer well. https://www.conwayscenic.com/schedules-fares/
All of our trains have multiple bathrooms, though there isn't one in every individual car. You may have to walk to the next car to find one. Thank you for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad!
We have taken the trip in the past and will be taking it again in a couple weeks. It is a very relaxing and nice trip. Well worth your time and money.
We offer AAA and military discounts of $1 off the Conway Valley Train, $2 off the Bartlett Valley Train, and $4 off the Notch Train. Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
We offer AAA and military discounts: $1 off Conway, $2 off Bartlett, and $4 off the Notch. There are no promo codes currently available.
Except for the dining car, the Valley Train cars do not have A/C. On the Notch Train, the First Class cars, including dining cars, have A/C. Coach cars do not. Thanks for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad! Stay cool this weekend! Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
We love our fur friends, and they are welcome in any of our Coach cars. Thanks for your interest in our Railroad! Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
Rates vary depending on the excursion and the class of seating. Adult Coach fares start at $19.00. For schedules and fares' information, please visit our website, https://www.conwayscenic.com/schedules-fares/
When we went on October 20th there were many eating their own lunches. They did remind people to pick up after themselves.
Your best bet would be to contact them directly
I wouldn't say late at all. It was pretty warm last week when we went, and the leaves really haven't started changing colors yet. I'd say you picked a much better time to visit and ride the train. It's just some views around town, but fun for the family. We rode the 55 minute Conway tour, my daughter loved it. Coach tickets are perfect.
Raza, your own food is only allowed in Coach on any of our trains, including the Notch. You can order a box lunch from us (at least 24 hours in advance), https://www.conwayscenic.com/notch-train/box-lunches, or you can buy a sandwich and snacks in our snack bar. There's also a dining car on that excursion, but if you haven't already made your reservations, availability is very limited in First Class. Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
That engine has been out of service due to a federally-mandated 15,000 mile overhaul. We expect to have her back in service next year. Thank you for your interest in Conway Scenic Railroad! Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
Between 55 minutes and 5.5 hours, depending on the excursion that you choose. At this time of year, we have 5-6 Valley Train departures daily: 10:30, 1:30 & 4:30 to Conway (55 minutes round-trip); 11:30 & 2:30 to Bartlett (an 1.75 hours round-trip). On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, we also have a 6:00 Bartlett departure. The Notch Train is 5 hours round-trip and operates on Tues/Wed/Thur/Sat. Beginning on September 8 through October 27, it will run daily with an extended route September 15 - October 13 that is 5.5 hours round-trip. Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR
The dining car seems to sysu filled the other cars had seating
