The USPS Huffman location is by far the worst post office in South Anchorage. The employees are are incompetent and have horrible customer service.

I have packages always missing and then the mail person keeps leaving other people packages at our house because they don’t read the number well and also never leave the right mail and when I went to the post office to say something they told me I was wrong and that it was my problems

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, i feel like the window folks AT the PO always at least try their best to help me, no matter what I need. On the OTHER hand, mail delivery is spotty AT BEST, and i have failed to receive several important packages and correspondence because of this. Yesterday, an item i was expecting on Jan. 19th went out for delivery at 6am. I work from home, and my landlord almost never leaves her house. Starting at 530, i actually WATCHED for the postman to bring my package. At 815 i gave up. Then I received a notification that he had ATTEMPTED to deliver at 730pm but was unable to "gain access". WHAT?!? We keep our cars in the garage, so nothing blocks the driveway. There are obvious and accessible steps leading right to my front door. AND we literally have the biggest mailbox i have ever seen, big house number right across it, it is in plain view on the UNOBSTRUCTED street RIGHT THERE. So, either he couldn't locate the correct address and was trying to deliver somewhere else (not the first time), or he was LYING because he wanted to go home and had to document reasons for undelivered mail. Because he for SURE did not come to MY house. If he had, he definitely would have mentioned the moat. Kidding. And i am going with reason two. Because his job is literally to KNOW WHERE PEOPLE LIVE, so if he can't do that, he should probably find another calling.

They failed to deliver my package they day it was supposed to arrive. Their explanation was it was because of animal interference but they didn’t even stop by my house. No one for 5 blocks in my neighborhood has any outside pets . I sat by my window looking for my package to arrive all day and they end up making an excuse for not delivering my package. Now 5 days later I still have not received the package I ordered. I called them up and they say they don’t have any tracking numbers that match. I was tracking the package since I ordered it almost 2 weeks ago. Unheard of! Not using this useless carrier again.

You have to get the # direct from the post office clerk, but honestly they dont have time to answer the phone, and in most cases won't. Because that's what they feel the 800 number is for, it's sad, but understandably when you talk to them..a majority and high percentage of questions they would have to answer could be answered online or in person..like I said sad but some cases understandable
We collect mail from outside boxes 3 times a day at scheduled times. If you see that they're full, please come inside and let us know, we will do extra trip to collect the mail. Sometimes those boxes are not overflowing, some one just put a small package in and it gets stuck. Don't try to push any packages in there. Better schedule a pick up and mail carrier will pick it up from you. Thank you.

Yes if the machine is working
Check with post office, go there and have them aware
No
Yes. You can come and pick it up early. Just let the window clerks know about the held mail and that you'd like to resume delivery ahead of schedule. 👍
This post office does not answer their phone. You need to go over there, but be careful as the manager is not nice.
