My 10 year old daughter attended the French Patisserie class. I was ver impressed with it (she wasn’t comfortable having me leave for the whole class). The kitchen/classroom was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The tables at which the kids cooked were the perfect height, the class was organized in such a way that everyone participated in all aspects of the cooking yet were able to interact and have fun as small groups, and the instructors struck a perfect balance between offering help when needed and being hands-off so it was actually the kids who did the work. Not only did the instructors tell the kids what to do, they also explained why they were doing each thing, and how to tell when the ingredients came together properly. In total, the group of kids made a tart from scratch (pie dough, pastry cream, and fruit topping) as well as cream puffs. There were no ingredients that were bad for your health either—no margarine, Crisco, etc. the only downside was I wanted to eat it all and had to share with the rest of the family. Absolutely best pie crust I have ever had—store, restaurant, home made. I will be signing my daughter up for more classes. And she had fun, too!

My 10 year old daughter took the French Pastry class and was all smiles when I picked her up. She loved that this class was truly hands on and that the kids were treated like real bakers. She has been to other cooking/baking classes for kids and was disappointed that everything was already made in advance. I wish there was a Taste Buds closer to Brookside but it was definitely worth the trip. The whole family enjoyed the goodies she brought home.

I went with my 7 year old son to make Valentine's Day donuts and it was so much fun. He was so proud he did it all by himself with minimal assistance by momma. They read a story while the donuts baked so time flew by and we never felt rushed or anything. Many praises were given to all the little ones. My 7 year old left highly encouraged and ready to share his donuts with dad and brother. Will definitely be returning.

We had so much fun making sushi and dumplings! The staff are so helpful and friendly, and hilarious! They made it super easy for us with premeasured ingredients, and staff swapping things in and out as needed. I learn a ton of helpful everyday tips in addition to making the specific meal. Could not recommend enough!

Unfortunately our kids classes are not for 17 year olds. You could join a family class or attend an adult an adult class with an adult.

Do you have a 'how to use a knife safely' class for 10 year olds?

We do not have a specific class on using knives safely, however knife safety is incorporated in any classes where we use knives.
