We got address and information from internet. Drove all the way over and was told to go to another Animal Service place. Ended up driving 40 miles when all I needed to do was call for truck to capture and pick it up. Wasted 3:30 hours of an otherwise lovely day.

Yes, you are required to. Call when you arrive in the parking lot. A masked tech will get kitty and call you to come get him when he is done. Minimal contact and she stayed 6 feet away except to take him and give him to us. Felt very safe the whole time.
