There is nothing better than hitting the road and exploring our Beautiful Country!! And Cruise America makes it even better by providing that experience in the comfort of your very own RV!!! The Ruskin/Tampa Team is the greatest! Dominique and Angie took care of us from the moment we walked through the door. The process is simple and they get you oriented to the vehicle with ease. Whether you are a first timer or an experienced cruiser this is the spot to start your journey! Thank you again Dominique for your patience and your amazing customer service!! We will be back to Cruise America!!

Part 1: Cruise America in general...decent customer service and friendly support. This Ruskin location (Angie in particular) highly unprofessional, beyond rude from start to finish. We had to switch to this pick up location due to one of the 2 RV's we were renting was returned to the Hudson location with damage the day before our departure. We did not ask for this, and we had to go the opposite direction and derail our travel plans before we even got started. Angie was very obviously not pleased with the inconvenience either. We were coming from an hour away, we showed up 15 minutes early, walked in and no greeting or hello. Rather we were met with (in front of our children) a very abrasive "Your appointment is not until 10:30 so you will just need to wait." I can't even express in words the rude tone. When filling out the paperwork, I was told "Well we didn't even know until yesterday you guys were even coming here and now, we have to have 2 RV's ready". Then when being told I need to purchase the extended insurance plan I asked to call my car insurance first to see what was covered. (This would take no more than 5 minutes tops) Her response was: "We do NOT have time to wait for you to do that." At that point I called her out and said that none of us asked for this situation and we could all at least be decent and kind. I was not about to spend $250 extra dollars until I checked. I called my insurance anyway and then proceeded. Words can't express the annoyed body language, looks and rude tone for absolutely no reason other than she was irritated and decided to take it out on a family about to head out on a 2 week vacation. Zero tact and customer service. When we got back to our homes to load the RV's my sister's RV had NOT been cleaned. We are talking gross here. TONS of crumbs in cabinets, lines of bugs around the bed, a ceiling light full of water and someone else's DIRTY SOCKS left behind. When you turned the roof AC on, water sprayed onto the bed. We called to see what we could do, and her response was equally rude. Since we drove it off the lot was NOT her problem and she did not have another unit to give us so we would just have to figure it out. Once again, no apology, no kindness. We were now another hour behind departure cleaning an RV that should have been cleaned and sanitized but was disgusting. We managed to have an amazing time out west for 2 weeks, but not without WAY too many RV issues. Between the 2 standard units we had a refrigerator/freezer that stopped working and lost all of our groceries, a hot water heater whose pilot light would not stay lit, a roof AC that froze over, a shower that rained into the passthrough and down the inner wall over the bed, a side mirror whose hinge came loose as I drove down the highway swinging out and not allowing me to safely change lanes (we had to duct tape it) and a toilet whose flush pedal got stuck and water poured into the RV. We documented and reported all issues to Traveler's insurance along the way like we were supposed to. They told us the drop off location person would offer compensation for the issues. You can imagine how confident we were from our first experience that Angie would be accommodating in this regard. Needless to say, she was not.

We'd never rented an RV before, but Cruiseamerica allows you to bring your dogs, so we wanted to give it a try. We got the 30-foot model at the Tampa location, and it's actually not bad to drive. The V-10 engine has enough power to get up to highway speed, and the brakes are great. But even this size RV is really cramped inside, and with 2 large dogs, everything is grossly inconvenient. Still, we'd have given it 3 stars. But the customer service at this location was horrible. There's a set pick-up time, and we arranged our day around this, but they didn't have a vehicle ready when we arrived, even though there were plenty of RVs on the lot. It smelled funny inside but seemed reasonably clean, though a bit dusty. Putting your sewer hose back in its storage space requires spinning it to get it around a bend, but nobody explained that ahead of time. Believe me, no matter how well you hose that thing out, you don't want to be screwing around with a dripping sewer hose trying to figure out how to get it back into storage. Based on our mileage, the gas tank was clearly not full when we picked up the vehicle, although the gauge read "F." We got significantly more miles to the gallon after we filled the tank, even though the first tank was all highway, and the second tank was mixed miles. When we were done, we swept, vacuumed, mopped, and cleaned. But on returning the RV, the first thing they said was, "Did you bring your pets? There's dog hair." We're talking literally a pinch of hair on the step, and they charged us $50! Then they wanted to argue about reimbursing us for wiper blades. And they argued about the gas tank not being full when we picked it up. Really a bad customer service experience, and that's what took it down to 1 star. If you're thinking about the RV experience, try another location.

We have selected Cruise America to enjoy the comforts of an RV. We have a small camper, but traveling in the RV allows for much more freedom. Also, we are trying the Class C RV to see how traveling a good distance feels! In our use of Cruise America, we have traveled on one trip more than 1,500 miles and on the other more than 1,000 miles. With each rental, and all though we rented the RV from six days to nine days, we had received an RV with considerable mileage. Both RVs ran well and were very clean, but the interior was certainly worn and some things were broken, as drawers or windows. The first rental driving from Central Florida to Dallas, the water tank leaked all over family Christmas presents we "were" taking to family. Literally, the tank leaked horribly for the full nine days into the storage area. The second rental, the potable water connection didn't work correctly, which sprayed the entire storage area. I did call the main number and I was thankful I was talked through how to fix the leak. I am mechanically inclined, but some folks may not bring tools or have been in a position to fix the problem. If that were the case, Cruise America would have sent someone. Also, with the first rental, a tire had been plugged, which blew out on the way home -- I know Cruise America doesn't plugbtheir tires, so it must have been a previous renter. However, Goodyear was sent and the tire was fixed and we were back heading home within several hours. This is good timing -- we have had our own camper tire blowout and having roadside assistance took over six hours. Cruise America was very attentive. There were some other things that just come along with age. In short, look for the deals on their website or stop by their office! It's great, but be prepared to get low gas mileage! We have had a lot of fun and have enjoyed the rentals. But, also be prepared for some wear on the inside and some small things to popup on the trip! We will continue to use Cruise America; until, we retire and finally select our own Class C, Class A or fifth wheel! Also, we may try some different companies to experience a little less wear and tear! You will enjoy your trip using Cruise America!!

The ones I have used are class C RVs, which are not easily accessible for those with mobility limitations without bringing your own equipment.
We rented a 30 foot one and i think our deposit was 500.00
That sucks! But thanks for your timely response.
