Beautiful day for a visit. Enjoyed walking to the creek side water right out of the visitor center, then over to the pond side after a quick walk. Lots of spots to sit and fish. Really liked looking at the construction of the long house in progress. Looks like it's going to be amazing. This would be a great park to visit with little kids who might not be up to a big trek, but you still want to have a nature experience with. Super helpful staff that were so friendly and welcoming!

Clean. Nice area. Small Beach area. Not much room on the beach and I wouldn't swim in it. But there are lots of picnic tables with grills and a couple of play areas for kids 5-12 away from the water. Saw some Eagles and what I think is a rat snake. Lots of bugs π I guess I'm not used to the amount of bugs VA has to offer yet. The trail was pretty clean. Tons of leaves from all the trees made me worried about not seeing and stepping on a poisonous snake but I really don't think there's anything to be done about it. Keep your eyes open. And remember to clean up after yourself, pack it in, pack it out π

I go about once every other week for the Free Yoga at the Park on Saturday1000-1100... Go if you haven't! It's a great class. I go and walk the loop trails before yoga. There is a 2 mile loop that get you back to the road entering the park thats really beautiful. Good for pups too! ππ

Beautiful park. Very well laid out, nice visitor center, well maintained and nice facilities. The trails have great water views and peaceful stretches through the woods. Parking is plentiful.

Fishing is allowed (licenses required by state mandate must be shown), I do not believe overnight camping has started yet, but I know it is planned and there is a bait store on the ride in at the Decatur Crab location at the corner of Decatur and Widewater roads.
We are still waiting on the legislature to fund the rest of phase 1 development. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like funding made it through this year either. Write your legislator!
