It's a small museum and a fun place with old filming equipment.

Lovely little museum that is a tribute to early film and answers the question: "Where did Charlie Chaplin produce films besides Hollywood?" A lot of great vintage film equipment and artefacts from that era. Just be careful, I got a little side eye from the staff. I tried to diffuse it with a friendly glance, but just got a terse nod from the old timer there. (I couldn't tell if it was because I was Asian or because I didn't drop anything into the donation basket initially.) Otherwise, I loved it being a film enthusiast.

What a great museum. Completely volunteer based, these people know their stuff and truly love silent films and movies. Can't wait to go back when they open the theatre for silent movie nights again.

That's the place where Chaplin was building his career. Atmosphere inside the museum allows you to feel the times of early 1900th. Moreover, you can see how movies were made at that time. Local guide will tell you a lot of other amazing facts about Niles and filmography. Even if you're not a fan of old films, you should see this place at least once and dive into atmosphere of 1900th.

Check their web site to make sure but I think they usually have them on saturdays. There is one Sunday on the current schedule for Sept. 8th
Hi Juanita! The museum has no entrance fee for museum hours 12:00 noon-4:00p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, but donations are gratefully accepted. Tickets for Saturday night silent films (7:30p.m. every Saturday) have a suggested donation of $7 (or $5 for museum members). These films always have live musical accompaniment, usually a pianist. The usual format is two short features, followed by a brief intermission. When the audience returns to their seats, there is a drawing for prizes, then the introduction of the feature, followed by the feature film. The feature usually ends about 10:00p.m., so you get a full evening's entertainment for very little money. Refreshments are available on-site, the usual popcorn, candy and sodas (and all for much cheaper than at contemporary multiplex theaters). I go most Saturday nights.
Huh, huh?
