The staff was very rude and snooty. They acted like we were inferior. The guy that helped us acted like he’d lost his only friend and wanted to be anywhere else but there. They acted like their wine was better than everyone else’s. They seemed mad at us because we looked around first instead of immediately going for the very expensive wine tasting. Definitely won’t be going back here when we go back to Helen.

The Wine Slushee, atmosphere and friendly staff brought us back three times during our Oktoberfest visit to Helen. The wine tasting is $12 per person for 5 tastes. Most of the wines are fruit based. The wine makers experiment was not our favorite. The bottles of wine are reasonable between $15-$25. Anslee and Chip were friendly and educated us on our wine tasting selections and even offered a suggestion of getting a wine slushee swirl telling us it was the most popular with customers. We liked that we could purchase cheese, pickles, crackers and other local delicious items to pair with our wine tasting. The retail store will delight any wine lover. We especially loved the unique pet items that stuck to the wine theme. We purchased several unique wine items from the store, two slushee flavors so we can make slushee at home and two bottles of wine to take home.

I prefer sweeter wines and their list tends toward the dry but does have some they say are sweet. The service was terrible. I was shuffled around and then the girl who did our tasting was very rushed (I suspect she gathered I was not going to buy bottles) and seemed to care very little about my experience. I don’t mind if the staff don’t share my tastes but at least be informative and helpful. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this winery.
