We have lived at Walnut Streets Commons for two years. We recently bought a home in Chattanooga and will be moving soon. Walnut Commons is the perfect place to rent in Chattanooga as you are in the heart of the city and have exemplary accommodations. You are adjacent to the Walking Bridge, the Aquarium, the Hunter Museum, and the River Street Walkway (18 miles). The apartment complex feels more like a close family. The apartment complex is a mixture of young and elderly that all get along. We oftentimes spent time on the furnished rooftop with newly acquired friends looking upon the Tennessee River and the City. The complex is very quiet, clean, and fun. The manager of the Complex is Amber. Amber is more like a mother to all. She is very patient, understanding, and organized. She ensures that all tenants are happy and have their issues addressed immediately. We can only say positive comments regarding Amber and her ability to manage the complex with a motherly hand but also a no-nonsense approach to anyone not being respectful in the complex. The Maintenance Man is Mike is an exceptional maintenance guy and also a perfect representation of what this apartment complex represents: Excellence. Mike will always get the job done efficiently and effectively. He is also full of wisdom on life and Chattanooga as a whole. Whoever owns this apartment complex should change nothing! Continue to employ Amber, Mike, maintain rent at the reasonable price, and keep the facilities clean. We will miss the apartment and the people. Shawn & Mary Tobin

The only perk of living here is the location, everything else is terrible. In response to other people's reviews about some units being rented out as airbnb's I know for a fact that they are. There is one unit on the 4th floor and one on the 2nd floor. I know this because I rode the elevator with two people who rented the 4th floor unit for a weekend and told me so. It is also not hard to find out if a Walnut Commons unit is being used as an airbnb as it is plainly listed on the airbnb site, all you have to do is look...!!! I also always smelled smoke coming into my unit. The management at this building are the most unprofessional group of people I have ever met. There is a new property manager every few months, it's a revolving door. You can never get a hold of them, they don't give adequate notice when they want to enter the unit for non emergency work, they leave confidential paperwork laying around for tenants to see, and they don't keep appointments. They also don't fix things in the unit that are broken from previous tenants because as the maintenance man said, "corporate doesn't want us spending any money". The only time they fixed or cleaned things around the property is when they recently had a HUD inspection. In this case they fixed everything a few days before they came but before this, there was no security in the parking lot as someone hit the barricade with there car and it took them the better part of the year to get it fixed. They claimed they were waiting for the insurance company to pay for it however it was magically fixed right before the HUD inspection. For the rent they charge for these units there should be no excuse why things aren't fixed and in a timely manner. When you ask management for an update on issues or bring these things to their attention it is met with animosity, defensiveness, and finger pointing. Also, read EVERY word of your lease, they try to sneak in inflated fees that TN law regulates against. If you are thinking of moving here PROCEED WITH CAUTION!! Edit, Response to owner: Unless you resolved the airbnb issue within the last 5 minutes it hasn't been fixed as it is currently listed on their website. Some of the issues I have discussed in my review are things that have happened late last week and the week before and I know for a fact you haven't gotten new management since them. This just proves what I said above about you pointing fingers and making excuses but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night right?!

If you like to be loud and smoke weed, this is the place for you. If you want sleep before a long day at work, forget it. If you try to contact management, don't expect a response. Edit: I see strangers getting off the elevator looking confused and walking down the hall on the 2nd floor ever day. There's definitely some sort of room rental happening. It's all kinds of people with overnight bags. This place was great at first and then it fell apart. Please end my lease asap and get me out of here. We can settle up and I'll remove my review and never look back. I don't feel safe here anymore.

It's OK. Maintenance does a great job keeping the place kept and resolves issues. Walls are thin so this isn't family friendly. If you have kids or dogs beware! People have dogs walking around and if you are allergic or don't want to deal with barking all day long, try someplace else. Lots of parties and drinking on balconies at 12am so if you are trying to sleep and don't want to hear girls giggling and loud talk, not the place for you either. Lots of smoking! I'm a non-smoker and wow some people do not care if they smoke right outside the doors so you walk right through it. Again if none of this bothers you, it's an OK place. I've seen some kids around and that's good but I also see dirty looks from older people so definitely mind your own business.
