TL;DR, Was helped by Jennifer C and walked out with a great phone, a good plan and a complete understanding of both. Long version: I am a nightmare customer. While I do tech support and web design, I am also an old school, open-source-software, picky, boomer-with-an-attitude type of person with my phones. I loathe all the pre-installs, I don't want to sync to the cloud. I don't like tricksters, scammers or shady salespeople. The world switched to 5G and I had Cricket, so do the math. I needed a new phone. I went to several other stores/brands in town and felt like they were trying to sell me a used car. Then, I walked into AT&T, told Jennifer C that I was looking for x y and z, with a headphone jack if possible and the ability to limit apps/accounts/clouds and all that. I added that I'm not interested in any extras, bells or whistles. I basically told her "Hey, I don't want to get anything you've been encouraged to sell and this guy isn't gonna sign up for Spotify or a shiny case." And ya know what Jennifer C said? "Sure. Here are your options and here is your best plan. I doubt anything still has a headphone jack, but otherwise you should be happy with your options." No smoke, mirrors, pleas, begging, offers, challenges, captchas or red tape. She literally sold me what I asked for, explained the plan and handed me the box. Then, she said, "You said you know how to set this up, so I will let you set it up and I trust that you are able to do so, because you said you could." You hear that, T-Mobile? Trust. Trust is what's lacking in your business model. And for this, I will forever stick with AT&T. Jennifer C deserves a promotion.
