Worst hospital ever!!! Thank god my husband got me transferred to sharp or I might still be there!!!! Don’t Go! I self admitted myself after a psychiatrist put me on too much xanax which made me suicidal. I was brought to a downstairs area that was like something out of a horror movie. The dr saw that a distant family member had schizophrenia and put me on high dose antipsychotics. My husband finally got an outside psychiatrist to get me sent to sharp because by the time aurora was done with me I was unable to talk had tardive dyskinesia from the meds and was made to go to groups in that condition!!! I am a highly educated Icu nurse and was totally misdiagnosed!!! 2 weeks inpt and self volunteered for an outpt program and was totally back to myself and have never needed any medication since then! If there wasn’t a time restraint on being able to sue them I totally would have!!! Was put in a room with a dirty shower, dirty mattress with no sheets. I never post bad reviews but I just want to warn others! This place is like something out of a horror movie if u are an inpatient. My poor daughter suffers from depression and I absolutely refused to let her be admitted there!!! Stay away!!!!!!!

It looks nice on the outside but really this place is a jail with meds. On the unit there is no place to go outside, just a caged area to smoke. If you don’t smoke you will breathe in all of their smoke. I wish the unit had a nice place to go outside like a garden but instead you are stuck in a hallway.

The staff at Aurora are so caring, patient, and kind. The food is excellent as well. The psychiatrist was challenging to work with and they need to fix their hot water tank. The group therapies were actually the most helpful I've ever had in an inpatient setting. Aurora's techs, nurses, and therapists were professional and most seemed engaged and attentive.

You can find the best mental health care here. I completed the 30 day program, the substance abuse counselors were fantastic along with the psychiatrist. Got my medications on the right track again. I highly recommend group counseling. Everyone was really understanding about each other's issues. Very professional and extremely competent clinical staff. If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health issues and need treatment Aurora is the top choice.
