The best hospital so far staff are so responsive and actually following safer precautions in order to keep loved one safe from others and from themselves, nice people and good communication set up. Very clean and secure.

This business and staff took awesome care of my mom when she was not herself. Nobody likes being in the hospital but at least I knew that she was safe and well taken care of, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is a state funded facility and if the surrounding area would get off their butts and actually help with donations this place could be the best in the nation. Funding cuts after funding cuts only hurt the ones we love who cant help themselves.

You need to be approved by the patients to visit them ( You have to be in the list of those people who can visit the patient, written order.) Phone calls are allowed to and from.
Yes u have to schedule them.
For self admission you'll need a psych unit in a regular hospital like Sacred Heart. I can't speak to insurance issues but everyone at Eastern State Hospital is court ordered to be there due to being a danger to self or others, or have felony charges and are not mentally competent to stand trial, or have been found Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity. No one is there voluntarily.
