Heyburn State Park is such a beautiful place and offers a variety of activities! We have personally hiked, fished & biked the area and can’t wait to visit again. The Parks employees are always friendly, the park is always clean, and the views are phenomenal.

Yup, but a leash is a good idea. Wildlife and kids can be a problem.
No
You can rent a boat slip by the day at the marina when it is open. You can get information at the park headquarters when the marina is closed.
Yeah there's a boat launch and if it's too shallow for you, just Cruise 10 minutes down the road to Rocky point, big boat launch.
There are interpretive signs that tell the history. But, lake chatcolet is named after Princess Chatcolet who committed suicide from what is known as Indian cliffs if I remember the stories right. She fell in love with a French trapper (if I remember right) and committed suicide from Indian cliffs, I can not recall the whole reason why she did this.
They have a website where it gives you all that information and some helpful information on their cabin rentals too. I think if you just Google the park name it will come up
October is a good time to go More campers after the 10th due to hunting season but even if the web says they're full there's always people who don't show up Nice place to camp!
Some of each, we were there last week and didn't have any trouble getting a site. Some of the reserved sites didn't show and they were open later in the day. The other two campgrounds were full however.
