I would have given this a hotel a 4 or 5. Our room was clean and comfortable although quite expensive at $160 for one queen bed. Breakfast was delicious. Pool being renovated wasn’t a big deal because we didn’t plan to swim. Why the one star? Just 20 days before our stay, a 10 year old boy was killed when the pool ceiling collapsed on him! We would NEVER have stayed had we known. According to our local paper which we saw after returning home, they still don’t know why the ceiling collapsed and aren’t investigating it. “Pool renovation”…It makes me sick to think we stayed there.

They wanted to charge me $100 on a credit card in addition to my full cash payment for the room. I’ve stay at Holiday Inn several times and they have asked for a credit card number on file, but never charged a fee in addition to the hotel room charge. The rooms were extremely small too. My suggestion is to stay at the Holiday Inn and avoid Hampton.

This is the best of the hotels in York. Clean with digital check in and keys. Friendly staff is accommodating and considerate of groups staying here, unlike experiences we've had at the other York hotels.
