Salt Kettle Rest Area

Just on the other side of Danville going west. This rest stop is a must see. Great place to do a nature walk as you unwind from driving. Lots of information about central Illinois. Clean , well maintained.

I'm not one to post reviews, esp of a rest area, but this one was such a pleasant surprise that I felt the need. Really relaxing and clean with plenty of room to stretch your legs and have a quiet lunch at one of the little picnic shelters by the pond. LOVED the prairie restoration area and the native garden bed installed at the entrance!

This was a great place to get out stretch you leg let a dog out and go pee. The stop has a sprout from the man made lake that it oversees. We got to meet some beautiful geese and their goslings.

The bathrooms were very clean. Very quiet, relaxing area. I even saw a man fishing in the pond. Nice walking path and playground.
