I literally have called this Office hundreds of times and no one has ever answered the phone nor do they call back. When my permit runner has been in the building picking up permits. People are standing around while the phone rings. Terrible service! I would give them ZERO stars if I could!

Hi Judy. Yes you can. I submit designs to the county for these frequently. State legislation effective January 1, 2017 now makes it possible to add an attached or detached 2nd unit or legally referred to as ADU (accessory dwelling unit). If you talk to a planner, they will explain that you can, and also what the limitations are. Then they will tell you to draw up the plans or find someone like me to design and get all the plans approved. If you have any questions I'd be glad to provide answers based on my experience with working with LA County. I will spell the number as I don't want it to get hacked by spam bots.
