I was on Garden Grove's housing list for 11 years. That being said ...the city should be sued for incompetence. She told me they help people in shelters, go in a shelter and you will wait but not for 11 years. What a joke.

6.21.2020: From a client's standpoint, I want to make it understood that while people can wake up to a bad day, there's simply zero excuse for modeling such unprofessional, hostile behavior at any given workplace. Slamming the landline phone to its dialing system, massaging your forehead in pain, and not efficiently attending a one- or two-person line signals what I mentioned above. Since one of your young clerks doesn't like interacting with the general public over phone or at the front desk, please have her consider finding another line of work instead.

Yes, you can. Contact your local housing authority for further assistance.
To apply for housing, you need to be on SSI Disability. And it is taking longer than expected, due to the Covid-19. But, should only take about 1 to 2 months.
How long till approved?
30 days if within the city or 60 days if out of the city
