I contacted Middlefield Oaks specifically Linda Lazar to find a place for my dad who was moving up from Ca. I had never done this before so I asked many questions during many conversations!!! We had many conversations about the accommodations, food, activities etc. Linda assured me many many times that as of my dads move in date the dining room had just reopened (due to Covid) activities were on again etc. as soon as my dad moved in it became apparent things were not as I was told. Right off the bat there was NO activities due to the facility looking for a “New Activities director”. There was no outings as promised, no store runs as promised nothing in house but I believe a couple events due to no one running things, There was almost three weeks of bare necessity cleaning wiping toilets… as they were “looking” for new house keeping (or so we were told). One Friday I was out of town (of course) and my father felt Ill. He and I asked for him to be transported across the street mind you to the ER. It took many calls on my part talking to a med tech to get him taken after being told a flat out NO we don’t do that…. Wait what? That’s specifically on web site and promoted as a thing when you move in. The med tech finally admitted to me that the “management” thought she was referring to someone else but after it was clarified they would take him…. The final straw was my father had scheduled a ride to a doctors appointment as I was working. When they did not show up to take him he was told they forgot to tell him the driver was not on duty that week. When I came in to inquire the next day I was told specifically by office staff that reality is there was a driver but the wrong name had been put in the book (that if a deceased resident) and so it was scratched out in the books) the next appointment my dad could get was in 4 months I kid you not. The food is a joke which is another story very little to no greens and lots of hamburgers and hot dogs. I thought my dad was exaggerating until I observed for myself. Eww. In fact a dining room staff lady that delivered his food to his room admired to me it was not good. Now I could go on about how I offered to volunteer to run an activity for residents in painting or poetry readings or how I referred people to do the same… never with a response or thank you yes please, or, how I was told by the moving lady I hired how it smelt in the hallways, or, how I had several conversations with specific staff on how I should put it all in writing because I was right about them not delivering what was promised but I could go on for days. I will say one last thing…. literally on my way out the door with my father and the moving crew linda lazar the lady who signed us up initially told me she was glad i was doing what’s best for my father. I told her I was floored that she never contacted me after my dad gave notice and she looked at me and said “not my job” that’s the executive directors job. I looked at her and said not your job really and left!!! I’m am more than disappointed and feel like we were taken advantage of. This facility gladly took his monthly payment (which was a lot of money for anyone) despite the fact they did not deliver what was promised both in writing and verbally regarding services available to my dad for his successful transition of moving into assisted living! I would HIGHLY recommend looking somewhere else even if it is convenient or you are told differently by Linda or staff. To bad because the location is good and the rooms are nice size but that is all it has going for them at this point! Lastly, I am more than willing to talk to owners with specific situations and conversations I had. If anyone reading this needs ideas of where to go, what yo ask etc please feel free to contact me as I would hate for others to have yo go thru this…

Don't even know where to start. Care Plans are not done for residence that have been there for close to a year. No staff , housekeeping hasn't been coming in. Call lights not answered. Food is horrible. Yet they are still taking the money illegally. Don't put your family here.

Wonderful facility. The staff is extremely helpful and the quality of life here is superb. The grounds are clean and orderly, the residents are happy, I would trust this facility with my own family.

My dad has been here for eight years and I have received nothing but the best care. The live music, the encouraging care partners, the patient med aids, and the stunning life enrichment directors have made this a worthwhile experience .
