the trail to the top is decently steep but well worth the hike. the hotel ruins at the top are spooky and cool!! the view from the top is amazing and peaceful. definitely coming back

Very uphill hike but with awesome views at the top! Be ready, bring water and snacks 2.5 miles hike up, about one hour to get to the top, just beautiful place!

The trailhead itself was packed. There was parking allowed on the road in certain places. The climb was very monotonous as it used to be an old road. So there's not much adventure or variety in this hike/steep walk. Saw people of all ages but not many kids being brought along. We stopped at the fire tower first. One of the tallest ones I believe. Beautiful view! There was a steward at the top, which was good because some people apparently just didn't see signs for capacity limits in the towers and would have tried to get 10 people in it. (Limit is 6). Once the top got too crowded we went back and explored the old hotel.

This trail is basically the perfect sunrise hike - old jeep road that’s easy to navigate in the dark, not too long (took me <1 hour to make it up), and of course the spectacular panoramic views at the fire tower! The hotel ruins were also super fun to explore on the way back down. Despite the numerous warning signs about rattlesnakes, I didn’t see any today (though I did see a frog!) The fire tower itself was also locked when I got there, and it was windier and chillier than I expected at the top. All in all it’s a 5/5 hike - if only it weren’t such a long drive out there for me!

If you were to bring a bike, you'd need to dodge people left and right during the spring, summer and fall on both the incredibly steep climb up and the crowded descent. You'd also be the person disrupting the traffic flow. I'd leave the bike home.
