Dr. Kumar was very pleasant and caring as he always is. The receptionists were pleasant also. Their reminder message on my phone was for 1:25 pm. There is a sign in the waiting room that says "if you have waited more than 10 minutes, let the receptionist know." Knowing how things get backed up, I didn't say anything...until people who got there later than that were taken back to a room ahead of me. I asked if I had been forgotten. She checked with the assistant and said no. When I was finally taken back I mentioned it to the assistant who very curtly told me that my appointment was not until 1:40 pm and she never takes patients to a room before their appt. time. Her attitude was not helpful. They need to coordinate a little better.

The front desk staff were very nice, the Dr was helpful then I went to schedule. The person was very nice and told me to pick a date and call back. I called back the next day and left a message. Did not receive a call back, so I call again - Ended up leaving 3 messages with no call back. I had cleared my calendar, set up drop off & pick up for one of the open date, thinking she just forgot to call me back. I did call 2 other times but did not leave message hoping to have phone answered. The sad thing, I really wanted to get this done. She said she did not receive messages. There is proof on my phone I called a total of 5 times. Will not ever call this clinic again.

Had a first appointment with dr at sleep center. Got a real hard sell on doing there in house/clinic sleep study verses the at home study. Was told by dr that my insurance would not pay for an in house/clinic study if needed, IF I did the home study FIRST and did not get accurate results. I said I will call my insurance and ask. Only to be told by the same dr " NO I have delt with your insurance company and they will not pay for it" I did call my insurance and they said yes they will pay for it. All that was needed was an authorization from a dr. Then same dr sent my information for home sleep study to an out of my insurance network company. This would have cost me a higher out of pocket expense. It's a good idea to call your own health insurance company and ask questions before you let this clinic do any sleep study's for you.

Cost of my Sleep Study (2017): Memorial Sleep center charged $4082. Insurance paid $2484. Out of Pocket $300. My Sleep Study included a; Dr. appointment (1), sleep study (2 nights*), doctor’s evaluation of the sleep study and recommendation. *I was initially told the sleep study and cpap application, if necessary, would be done in one night. For some reason, they didn’t do the cpap application that night and had me return for another night. I don’t know if that increased the charges. Equipment cost. The staff at Memorial Sleep Center mentioned a local company for a CPAP machine. That company estimated the cost for the machine at $900-1100. My insurance wasn’t going to pay for it so I bought one on amazon for $600 thereby saving $300-500. (That machine also had an APAP setting-much nicer than CPAP in my opinion) Service Review: The Dr. and staff were professional. The sleep study bedroom was nice. I’m glad to have the study done. Bad sleep leads to a bad life. I’m thankful Memorial Sleep Center exists. By the way, I was told there is a less expensive but also less reliable test available. Since my insurance was covering it, I went with the more expensive/reliable test. 6 Months Later: The cpap didn’t improve my constant sleepiness so I quit using it. Instead my constant fatigue stopped when I stopped taking a med I had been on for years. (I was told that my apnea wasn’t affecting the level (i.e. saturation) of oxygen in my blood very much so I didn’t worry about stopping the cpap) Why am I writing this? I believe that healthcare providers would do their potential clients/patients a tremendous service if they published their prices online. This would help cash paying customers to find the best deal and help avoid financial devastation. I know it would be difficult to publish prices online, but it would be the humane, righteous, honest, ethical, helpful, decent, and, if applicable, Christian, thing to do. Currently, finding out prices for medical/dental/health care is difficult and convoluted. What good is healthcare if it leaves you unable to pay bills, buy food or medicine, and/or leaves you out in the streets? Until prices are published online by healthcare providers, physical therapist, pharmacies, labs, radiology clinics, etc., we patients/consumers can help each other out by putting what we were charged for a healthcare service in reviews like this one. Obviously, charges will vary but right now it’s the best we can hope for. Plus, you would be helping your neighbor and they would be helping you.
