BECU is such a pain. Every employee I’ve ever talked to about an issue has given a different answer to the same question. I wanted to set up a specific type of account for Power of Attorneys at the Ballard location and it took six hours over two days to get it set up. There’s no way to get ahold of a specific branch via phone, so if you want to follow up with someone you spoke to you have to go in person. If you call their “customer service” line, expect to wait on hold for 20-30+ minutes. Once someone answers, if you have anything other than a generic question they will put you on hold for another 20+ minutes. They also have the worst hold music in the history of hold music. BECU’s whole shtick is that they’re easy to use, but in my experience they’re the biggest waste of time. If you don’t need tellers, check out Ally bank. All online, no overdraft fees, quick customer service and currently they have savings accounts with 1.5% interest.

This Ballard BECU location allows it's customers to be ripped off by the building's private parking service. There is 30 min free parking for customers but only if you park in certain spots that aren't clearly labeled. As soon as you walk in the building the private parking attendant tickets your car $88 for a $1.50 per hour parking spot even if only used 10min. They do not mark the tires of cars so if you were to leave to go get documents and then come back they will ticket you because they think you were parked there the whole time and went over the 30 min limit. There are plenty of empty parking spots and signs that say 30 min free parking for people doing business at the Ballard Square. I was in and out of the building in less then 10 min using the bank and there was plenty of parking spots for anyone visiting. I have even parked in this same spot before and never received a ticket after using the bank previously. The vehicle license business owner Jeff that is located in the same building says the private parking service are thieves and do this to all the time to people that visit this building. They purposely make it confusing so they can make a quick dollar off someone just trying to conduct their personal business there. They figure no one will fight it and just pay the bill after being bullied by them. They also don't provide enough handicap parking spaces for the location just 1 spot when there should be 2-3 BY LAW. When confronting the BECU employees at this location about the parking issue I am told they can't do anything about it and I need to contact the parking service. So BECU is perfectly fine with and doesn't care about their customers getting ripped off while doing business with them. BECU by doing business at this location and not confronting the private parking service about ripping off your customers you are in fact condoning this bad behavior and should be ashamed of yourselves. Very poor customer service I am considering closing my new account I opened just a few months prior by recommendation of good service by a friend. I can't do business with a company that are perfectly fine with letting their customers be ripped off and fleeced by 3rd party companies they also do business with.

We got a loan started by phone then found the car we love then ended up getting to this branch at 5:50. This car is a unicorn, we just couldn’t stand to miss it. Aaron made such quick work of an ordinarily arduous process. He had to stay late to do it and we didn’t even notice how long he stayed after until we were done 20 short minutes later. Yes you can! When logged in online, at the bottom go to Related Tasks, or just search open account. You can open a new account, single or jointly, including CDs. You have to transfer in $5 I think to activate the account, but it doesn't have to stay there.
