I have visited about 10 stores in the San Diego/Escondido/Temecula area. I felt comfortable buying a new fish for our tank here vs most of the other places. Elsewhere I saw ich, brooklynella, dead fish, tanks where 5 fish were literally cowering in the corners and clearly stressed out by the aggressive angel they were with. The owner took the time to speak to my wife about his setup and prophylactic use of copper and hypo-salinity for minimizing risk of disease. On a previous visit the staff were very friendly and informative. In this hobby there are a lot of opinions on how to do things. Sometimes you get conflicting info and it makes it a challenge to know what is right or wrong. In the end I chose Riptide Creatures based on the staff and the quality and condition of their fish. I would say they could use some help on the aesthetic of their shop which would probably help their business with new customers who tend to initially evaluate based on the look of a place first. It isn’t that there is anything wrong. It just doesn’t have the polished look of some other stores.

The owner and workers here are AWESOME!!! They know a lot about salt water fish and reefing. They are very down to earth and super helpful. The fish here are healthy and do not have ich unlike the other fish stores in the area. They have a wide variety of quality fish and corals. I definitely recommend to check them out!!!

The owner gives bad advise. He state that his water is all merky because he runs copper in all his tanks. I got RO water and the TDS was over 68! torch Coral he sold me was full of flat worms after a good dip. also, Many of his displays have visible pests..... Dont buy from here, Danger for all reefers!
