This is a good place to hike, but use caution. The trails are not marked and are narrow with lots of overgrown brush. I would not recommend going alone. Great for dogs and not crowed (as least on the Friday morning we went). Be aware that there are homeless camps right off the trails. No cell service, so don't get lost, hurt or waiting for an important call! Very pretty with the poppies, white, and purple flowers in the fields.

Great trails for hiking mountain biking or horseback riding. Hiked the old mine trail today which starts across the street from the parking area and just north of the houses. The trail goes right over the mine and it's very easy to miss while going north (away from trailhead), on the way back to the trailhead it is easier to spot off to the left (east) of the trail, from the trail it looks like a small ditch but it's not in the bottom of a valley where water would run, so it stood out to me as unnatural. Parking area has potholes large enough some cars could get stuck or damaged so be careful. There is a Porta Potty and sign with map of the trails but not much else.

Had a great afternoon here alone, there are plenty of trails to take around, and explore, easy enough to get lost. Cool little spot to spend a few hours. Stay safe, bring water, watch out for snakes.

I've only been to the entrance on Gavillan Rd and there is a parking lot that seems big enough for a small horse trailer.
