I love living in this communal retirement community. I searched far and wide and can promise you, there is none better. The services: activities, and available wellness support is exceptional. The staff is fantastic, helpful and somehow can handle all the residents’ needs regardless if they are simple or extremely complicated. I moved here from my lovely La Jolla home when I chose to not live alone after my husband passed away. My ocean view one bedroom apartment has fabulous old world architecture, and from the french doors and from all of my windows I have ocean views, even from my kitchen. The french doors to the three balconies overlook the beach and the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. I walk on the ocean side across the street from Casa de Manana every day. Life can only be so hard, when you wake up each day and begin to appreciate the thoughtful and nurturing environment in which you live. I moved here mostly to be part of this type of social setting. The other residents, for the most part, are interesting, educated: scientists, writers, artists, retired diplomats, medical practitioners and retired University Professors. Conversations in the beautiful Oceanfront Dining Room are lively and interesting. The the food is excellent. The staff who run the dining services are dedicated and very accommodating. The young people who serve us in the dining room are friendly and smart and always accommodating to our needs and wants. They add a feeling of youthful exuberance and enthusiasm to our environment. I am grateful to be able to partake in all these riches (activities, lectures, concerts, theatre trips, yoga classes, exercise classes, art classes, a full gym and a well heated pool for swimming, bridge club, scrabble and other games, and many many more available scheduled and impromptu events). The residents have formed clubs so numerous that sometimes you can fill your days with interesting, well run lectures. The organization is run like a cooperative. Meetings are frequent and very well organized and everyone seems to have a voice in the formation of policies. The Marketing Department is excellent and sensitive to the residents’ desires. Everyone here goes to great lengths to respond to each person’s requests, sometimes even prophylactically. I was an academic administrator at Columbia University before retirement and I have marveled at how well this place is run. Living here feels like living with a great neighborhood of fascinating potential friends and acquaintances both with the other residents and the staff. They have handled the COVID-19 pandemic with precision , expertise and and up-to-date education. So far, none of the residents have tested positive for the virus There is a world class Wellness Center which is staffed round the clock and they respond immediately to any health issues that arise. The staff is regularly tested for the virus and wear masks while on the job. So far so good. It is easy to feel that we are in a safe bubble. I feel like I am living in a Ritz Carlton resort with many more services and lots of friends to engage with. Nothing is perfect, but this is pretty close. I am so glad I was able to move here when I did. I am very social active and eager to learn. I can’t think of a better place to spend this stage of my life.

From the outside it looks great, the landscape is immaculate and the roses are sectioned nicely and labeled by species. Real colorful and vibrant.
