I was somewhat skeptical like others, but called any way to find a late 80’s early 90’s aftermarket seat manufacturers material. Well they didn’t have it but guess what, they reproduced it for me. It is about a 98 percent match to the original material, but it was a make or break part of my project and is well beyond what I expected to receive. Yes it was a few months passed when it was supposed to be done, but after seeing what I received, I would have waited another year! Major thanks to people at SMS Auto Fabrics for saving my project!

This is a review with special circumstances. Please read this and be thoughtful when considering SMS for your collector car. For years I wondered where I could get authentic replica seat covers for my cars. They are not popular models so pre-made kits are not available. There are special grain vinyls and an embossed "crest" in the seat. After reading a feature article in "Hemmings Classic Car" I inquired about my needs. They quickly sent out samples and a quote to make the whole set of covers for 2 cars. I was quoted 4-5 months lead time. I made full payment in April 2021. After about 6 months I started calling and emailing about the status of my order. Unfortunately, The person who finally answered kept saying a "a manager will get back to you" For quite some time I keep checking back with no reply. After reading some reviews by "hot heads", I began to worry about my order. I was told to expect it in January. After that passed, I got a call from Doug Pollock the owner. He was very sincere in his explanation of the circumstances and proposed a timeline to finish the order. Being in business myself, I could relate to the current world of employees. Once Doug was involved things happened quickly and the results were well worth waiting for. We all "want it now" I have a word of advice to offer; You have a specialty car, SMS is a unique source for upholstery that is just not readily available in the market. Take the long view and plan accordingly. Life is not a reality show where a car is restored in a week. I am taking the time to write this as they more than redeemed the congestion in the their system and I am well beyond pleased.

If I could give them negative stars I would. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! You pay upfront for an entire order, they tell you six months. A year later..."Oh, it's being worked on"....a year and half later "Oh we had a problem"...two years later seat covers arrived, and did not match my originals that I sent. They even missed stitching in areas and I couldn't install them. And they charged me extra shipping and charged my credit card they had on file from two years ago WITHOUT ASKING ME. If you have extra time, need more frustration in your life, want to pay for something upfront 100%, like being lied to, and generally just love being angry with someone then by all means use these tools for your interior work.

I ordered the material for my seats and had these guys restore my door panels. The vinyl showed up relatively quick but I will admit that it took a year to get my door panels back. So with a year wait why 5 star's? First off I knew it was going to be a long time going in so I suppose I was better prepared than some of the reviewers here. Second, every local person I talked to said they couldn't do the aluminum emblazing on the door panels and I wanted to keep it. As for the vinyl Dad said it look like it did when he bought the car (original owner) so the interior of my car looks completely original. I couldn't be happier. I ordered a boot cover later on and again it looks just like the original. I do highly recommend these guys. That said don't be in a hurry, I assume because they have so many orders and only so many employees. If you want (what I consider) the best you need a little patience. I feel like it was well worth the wait (hence 5 stars)
