Lovely, decent-sized meadows. My girlfriend and I had a picnic at the shelter site and several wild elk cows and babes came walking by. We both managed to feed one some bread by hand!

Great spot just 30 minutes from Lakewood area! Perfect hike for out of towners -- decent views of Evergreen, rolling hills, and pines. Great shaded hikes and not too much uphill climb if you don't want to, and plenty of trail options for lengths short (1-2 miles) or long! Saw a coyote here too in early September 2021, FYI. Close to the trail...

You can tell this park is loved and for good reason. You can bring your dogs, ride bikes, horses, run, or walk. Well maintained yet a bit of jagged rocks on the trails. We did a loop on meadow view trail and then through founders and sleepy. It was nice going up through the mountain and then across the meadow and back to the car in one circular trip. I'd recommend a trip from Denver or any other nearby town if you have a dog or a bike. For a purely walking trail I would look for something a bit more rewarding. You can tell this park is loved and for good reason. You can bring your dogs, ride bikes, horses, run, or walk. Elk Meadow is a very nice trail in the lower foothills of Evergreen. It is a steady incline hike to the peak ok around 9,000ft. From the peak you can see downtown Denver to the continental divide on the Western slope with about a 230 degree area to see. A round is around 8.5 miles (going from parking lot, to peak, and back the other way to the parking lot). It is not a beginner trail, but can be accomplished worth enough time. It took my friend and I (both in our early twenties and in pretty good shape) around 6-6.5 hours to complete the entire trail with some stops for pictures and scenery along the way. The landscape is very pretty as you hike in the treeline up to Alpine level where you will see some Aspen trees. Wildlife seems to be scarce at the lower elevations, but picks up as you go higher with woodpeckers and some smaller rodents. As always, be cautious for snakes and bears. There are quite a bit of mountain bikers in the warmer season, but most of them will pass by respectfully. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks/food to eat as it is a bit long. Also bring a sweater or rain jacket as it rains out of nowhere sometimes. There is a lot of background noise from the highway, but for me it fades away the higher you go, though it is always there throughout the whole trail.

Sorry, but no. The DOLA has been closed for a while. Check with your local municipalities; most have at least one designated dog park.
Check our the Cherry Creek State Park as a decent alternative.
