Shasta County Veterans Services helped me obtain a copy of my dd214. They are professional, efficient, knowledgeable and most of all helpful. My problem was resolved within one half hour. I like to thank the front office staff for making that happen. Thank you for your assistance. Pete Saari

Probably the worst VSO I have ever visited. I understand how terrible the VA and the VSO already are, but they will not even issue you a form or see you period until California takes away the lockdown. I have a 90% rating, 1800 miles from home, working for the federal government and I couldn’t even get informational help from these “employees” here. If there was a way to shut these places down, lay off the employees who refuse to help veterans and rebuild with better, more proactive helpful people. I would invest my life to doing that so veterans can stop being mistreated.

I have been here several times for my disability paper work and for the GI bill application. Its a very nice place to get help with veteran issues and paper work. You check in and wait until they call you to their office. The office is clean and small but they get the job done. It could be bigger for how many veterans there are here and its not only us that sit down and wait. Veterans sometimes bring their families in there also. The people are nice and they will help you with whatever you need done. I am very happy they are here for us vets. Thank you!

Went to the office In 2011, reapplied for benefits. The office staff at the time worked through their lunch on my claim. Then as I transitioned from the military to ch 61 retirement this office kicked butt again! They helped me with both the V.A. and the D.O.D. they walked me through every hurdle that came my way. Another year later, the V.A. , which is NOT the veteran service office in Shasta COUNTY... a lot of people think they are...the V.A. is Federal, the Shasta COUNTY veterans service office works against the V.A. for veterans.. I received a letter from the V.A. wanting their pay back..yes they can do that, I went back in with the letter from the V.A. and Troy Paine met with me..then he looked at the situation with the VSO.. they fired off a salvo of documents to the V.A. proving the V.A. made mistakes. Their demand letter was replaced with an apology letter and admition of a mistake. If you have issues with the V.A. or starting a claim, you should go speak with this office, from what I've heard of other Veterans Service Offices, anywhere in California, Shasta County has the Highest rate of professionalism and EXPERTISE. Unfortunately, for those with D.D., B.C.D... On their dd214, there's very little they can help you with.
