Home of the Linus Pauling Institute and part of the Department of Chemistry, this building also houses Ava's Cafe - a small cafe as part of University Dining. Check out the light art work!

Questions & Answers

Hello, I have read that if you take doses of Vit C of 6-8 grams a day in water, which I do, that it makes your body/blood acidic, in other words, Ph very low. Is this a fact? THank you for answering V. WieseHaugland

Definitely not a fact. Body pH is tightly regulated, eating a ton of acid (or any kind) isn't going to do much to change your blood pH - the human body can adapt

I have wanted to ask a particular question for some time now. What I want to get clarification on is whether Proline was included in Dr. Pauling's original treatment, along with ascorbic acid, or was it added on later by Mattias Rath?

Proline was an addition made by Dr. Rath after he found out that it bound to lipoprotein in test tube experiments. Pauling's recommendations were for vitamin C and lysine
