This area of the Bay is very scenic, full of tourists and BUSY on the weekends! For the price of a site, its worth getting away for a day or two. Yes, the place is old, musty, in need of work and not a 'Hilton' by any means. You are CAMPING...so its rustic, dirty, dusty and at times, muddy. You are near the coast so that means fog/drizzle and damp conditions: bring a fly and tarp for under/over the tent. As of 8/2022 STRICT mask-mandate in the office due to Covid. You MUST HAVE A MASK to check in or buy one at the door. Also office closed 12-1pm for lunch (door is locked). Lots of noise in the tent areas at night due to lack of Camp Ground Security, and no on-site Camp Host to provide any relief. Quiet time is 10pm to 8am which a number of folks don't adhere too and unfortunately is NOT enforced! BEGGING office staff to be more proactive pointing out quiet hours upon check in (especially the tent areas). Weekends are the worst with singing, loud drunken voices, barking dogs, car alarms going off at all hours, and antics from inconsiderate folk there to 'have a good time'. It wasn't perfect but we'll be back. Where else can you find a spot in Marin County under $100 a night?

The location is beautiful. That is what the 3 stars is for. The woman who runs the office is not a nice person at all. All they care about is money. They do not care about people. I guess they know people want to come for the location so they don't have to treat people with any kindness. It just affects the experience and leaves me feeling like a little like I want to take a shower after dealing with people like that. Clearly this campground got sold and is under new ownership and either they are the ones running it also or whomever they hired to run it no longer have the same personal and friendly vibe that previous ones did. We had our family reunion here for years. It is night and day difference with our experience with the office staff. We are rethinking if we will even have it here again after all these years of being loyal campers and customers. I am willing to spend more somewhere else to be treated with the dignity and kindness all people deserve to be treated with.

This review is focused on the people that run the campground and maintenance staff. We had a unique situation where our trailer experienced wheel smoking/overheating about 10 mins. away from the campground. We pulled over and called them for advise. They ended up having not one, but TWO people come out to where we were and they helped us limp our way along to the campground. They then helped to diagnose what the issue was and how we could proceed with getting it fixed. Amazing help and customer service all the way around!! I wouldn't have expected that level of help (and neither should you). They truly went above and beyond and we deeply appreciate their efforts in getting us to safety, and keeping our camper trip alive.

The grounds are OK, but the bathrooms and showers need serious repairs/upgrades and almost none of the washers and dryers are actually working. For $62/night (April 2022) a much nicer set of facilities is expected/assumed

Being an at&t customer, i can tell you it sucks. There is free wifi. Personally not being able to have internet access while camping is actually a bonus, for me.
Not quite sure what horse camping is but I always see people riding their horses around. I don't see why not but I would call ahead before you head out.
Yes.
Save some money and bring your own firewood. Buy from the store as last resort.
Quail, coastal black tail deer, red tail hawks, raccoons, opossum, buzzards, foxes, bobcats, swallows, coyotes, red shouldered blackbirds, tule elk on the point.
Nothing I saw like that. Went in June. Weekend was FULL.
Not yet...and the date has changed more than one time so don't make those plans in concrete. https://www.nps.gov/pore/blogs/lighthouse_restoration_2018.htm for the latest visit the blog link for the project.
I dont know about certain dates but there are no stairs in the bathrooms as far as I know
You would need to call them directly...
They may be agreeable since they are private
