Wow! This is a great park! Admittedly, I’m visiting on opening weekend, but not only does everything looks nice and new, but it has the widest variety of playground equipment I’ve seen: several different music making stations, an unusual 4 person teeter totter, mega-swing big enough for multiple people, and lots of various things to climb on, including what looks like a legitimately challenging climbing course. Of course, the big draw for opening weekend was the new bike pump track which was absolutely crowded. It looks like fun and everyone seemed to be really enjoying it! Next to that is two separate dog parks. These don’t really have any shade yet, though there are some small trees planted there. They do have drinking fountains though, which is quite nice! Supposedly this park contains San Diego’s first free, public parkour course, but I didn’t see it. I don’t know if I was looking in the wrong place or just don’t know what one looks like. I’ll explore some more next time we go. Right in the middle is a huge, lighted field. Nothing much was going on there today, but I’m sure that will see a lot of use soon. There’s also a large rec center that houses a gymnasium, multi-purpose room, and some indoor basketball courts in addition to the ones that are outside. In front of the rec center is a small skate park. It doesn’t look as exciting as the Carmel Valley Skate Park and certainly didn’t have many people in it, but perhaps that’s just because the pump track was getting all the attention. Finally, I love how it has lots of shaded areas that include picnic tables and grills, several drinking fountains that include a water bottle refill and several bathroom facilities. I’m sure this is a park that we will visit a lot!

From what I've seen so far, weekends and after school times are the peak. I haven't found a low use time yet, but I suspect during school hours it's less crowded. I hope to verify that soon.
The officially posted sign says no, though there were several scooters there this morning.
