The Remington Club makes the next season of an older adult's life a wonderful vacation. From the many activities and excursions provided to the scrumptious chef prepared meals. The centralized location makes it easy for families to visit. This upscale community provides a vast range of care depending on your loved ones needs. Julie White will passionately guide you through the process to make the transition as smooth as possible. Her joyful spirit is contagious, and you will immediately feel at ease and excited to move in. I have worked with Julie for years and have watched her always put her future resident's needs first. She is extremely knowledgeable about her community as well as the other local communities and will help find the right fit. She is honest and genuinely cares, just like the rest of the staff at the Remington.

Jeanne Selis, we can’t thank you enough for the time and consideration you spent with us while transitioning our mother to a senior community. It has been overwhelming to say the least. Your kindness, understanding and compassion have made the process much easier. We are eternally grateful for your insight and giving us ( as you say) a Harvard education in the difference between independent living and assisted living. We 100% know we made the right and best choice for our mother and her dog Coco. I highly recommend anyone call Jeanne Selis, the sales director at The Remington Club in Rancho Bernardo. You won’t be disappointed.--

I feel the staff is very nice. The restaurant staff is very patient. The landscaping is beautiful. The apartments have a good layout . The food especially the soup is very good. I feel it would be helpful to have several of the doors that lead to the eating room be automatic. It is very difficult for someone with a walker to open the heavy doors. There should be more engaging classes that could get people to talk and interact. The management doesn't seem real responsive to requests like higher quality meats that can be chewed easier.

I recently attended the 30th Anniversary event at the Remington Club Healthcare Center as a vendor (photographer). The event was well organized and prepared, with lots of people attending. Everyone from residents, to visitors, to the staff were all smiling and having a good time. And how could you not have a good time, there was lots of food, music, entertainment, games, and even recognition awards from the facility director to the residents. Staff was kept busy answering questions, meeting and greeting folks and just making themselves available to anyone who had a question or needed anything. Even the wait staff were always checking on me to see if there was anything I needed...and they were very busy moving about as quickly as humanly possible ensuring everyone was taken care of. My hat is off to all involved in putting this extravaganza together. I also had the opportunity to visit with the administrative staff and received brief tour of the facility by the lovely and friendly Admissions Coordinator, Pamela Cooper or just "Cooper" as I am told. I also took the time to speak with some of the residents at the event and there was not a single unhappy face or negative comment from them. From what I can gather this is a top notch facility and years down the road, should the need arise, this is where I would be happy to hang my hat and call home as many others have done. It is a warm and friendly facility with an amazing staff who genuinely care about you.

Thank you for your question. Assisted living at RC starts around 5400 per month PLUS a list of services he will need. For instance help getting dressed, shower assistance. This could cost any where from at least 600 month to 2700. RC likes to pad on extra services even though you don't agree with them. Independent living is totally different. If your dad can do everything on his own, then it will be cheaper for him to go to independent living. I have researched this for 6 months. I can recommend some other places if you want. Also be aware that these places are not regulated. They can give you a 30 days notice at any time. Hope this helps. Also check into board and care facilities which are cheaper but you are living in a residence.

When I visit assisted living communities with my daughter, I find it all a little intimidating. Moving from a small house to a big community is frightening. I just don’t know if I can learn my way around a new place.

My father needs more help than we can provide for him to be safe at home. I think he realizes it but is reluctant to leave the friends he’s made in his neighborhood. Dad has lived there for about 25 years. What can we do to reassure him he can stay connec

Good question! Embarking on a new chapter in life doesn’t mean old friends have to be left behind. Assisted living communities offer a wide range of programs and events residents can invite guests to participate in. And they also offer transportation services so your dad can attend events in and around town with his old buddies. Fortunately, there are other ways your father can stay in touch. Social media channels like Facebook or a video chat service such as Skype are two easy avenues for staying connected.

My mom agreed that it was time for her to move to an assisted living community this winter. She knows she just isn’t safe living alone any longer. We found a community Mom seemed to love. Now we can’t seem to get her motivated to actually make the move. I

This sometimes happen when it actually comes time to make the move. Your mom is probably anxious and a little uncertain. A late life transition like this isn’t easy to make. What might help is to get her involved in some of the events and activities at the new community now, instead of waiting until she actually moves in. Talk with the staff to see about helping her find a buddy with similar interests and hobbies that she can bond with during her visits. Becoming more familiar with the community and with a few fellow residents can help make the move feel a little less intimidating.

My children live out of town and have busy lives. I know I need to move to a senior living community but I don’t want to burden my children with downsizing my house. What can I do? It’s overwhelming to think about doing it all on my own.

We hear this concern from seniors often. Sorting through and packing up a lifetime of memories and belongings can be overwhelming. One resource we like to share with families is a group of professionals called Senior Move Managers. They are experts at handling all of the details of a later life move. You can find one near your home by visiting the National Association of Senior Move Managers or Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist.
