I trusted them with the love of my life. My father. They failed me. He was only there for a few months and died from pneumonia. MRSA and STAPH in the lungs. He was so over medicated to treat behaviors of dementia he couldn’t even cough or swallow. He tried to swallow the food they fed him while laying flat on his back and they forced another bite into his mouth. I witnessed it and have pictures. I missed a few days being ill myself and I was called when he was near death and when I asked why he was not sent to the ER I was told oh, he is a DNR. I said well his DNR means not to restart his heart if he is found without a heartbeat, not to withhold medical care. He died a horrific death at the hospital after I requested the transfer to seek medical care. The worst mistake of my life was moving him there. It looks good in the beginning but if you adore your loved one. Please reconsider.

My dad just passed away there yesterday after arriving a few days prior. We didnt know how long he would be there or what to expect and could not have asked for a more caring and supportive staff to help us through the process. The nurses there were so kind and helpful in explaining to us what to expect and how to help Dad in whatever way we could. It was a very difficult time for our family and they really made a difference in helping us deal with his death. Mickie and Meagan were especially loving and thoughtful, but the other staff were also much appreciated.

I did my clinicals (one week of hands on training to earn my NAC) at Good Samaritan Society in Spokane Valley, WA and I am both gratified and humbled by the hard work and dedication of everyone I met, from the janitors who happily helped me clean up a resident’s room when it was not even their section, to the chefs in the kitchen who took time out of their lives to inform nurses of a resident who was eating something he was allergic to. These small acts of synergy are emblematic of the family atmosphere and quality interactions which I would hope would be existent if I had a loved one in need of nursing assistance. I was, and am, very impressed with the wonderful place that is Good Samaritan Society.

We don't like their waitlist fee being charged for a credit check up front when it takes 1 to 4+ years to get in. I don't like giving out my info unless it were time for me to move in. I think they should change this policy. Although it's only $150 other communities waitlist fee is refundable any time you want to get it. And you'd think they'd recheck credit again later when you can't get in so long down the road. So, losing this $150 if you have to change your mind for relocating or whatever is not reasonable. I was told about folks losing this amount and each person in a unit must get one. We have looked into both the apartments and cottages and like cottages best. The apartment bedrooms are tight and baths too compared to more recently built communities we've checked. We also thought the elevators were awful small and folks have to line up in a narrow hallway when waiting for the dining room to open. The main building needs more room. The apt. rates were too high for my disabled sister to afford. The cottage rates are very affordable and are really sized for single active folks vs. an active couple with many belongings. Other communities will allow remodeling which isn't possible here. The setting is very nice with a wooded hill but they are going to add more cottages on the hill and we hope they leave a treed setting as it could cause a flooding problem which happened at a community leaving homes in 3 feet of water. We're waiting to see what develops.

Great that you want to volunteer! When you go up the road to the facility, it forks at the building, take the right 10 mph road and park at the end where you see handicapped parking and a broad sidewalk to the automatic door. As you get in the 2nd door that offers handicapped assistance button, immediately to your left is the human relations office, where you can offer to volunteer
Speak with their director Helda she's very helpful
Yes, we do. You can call the office between 8 am and 4 pm for information
