Jessica and George were very helpful, business wise. They knew what was coming, explained everything step by step. They are also very caring, as they knew this was our family home. As a landlord, I am always looking for help with managing properties in locations I do not reside. I rented from T&C when first getting into the Portland market to see if they qualified to represent me as an owner. However, the staff were/are lazy, rude, and underwhelming as a group. When I moved into the property in questions the carpets were wet and covered in mold, and they refused to do anything about it. Your prototypical passive aggressive Portland staff. The only employees that were worth anything, Patrica and Paul, no longer reside at the company and for good reason. I ended up just doing all the maintenance issues myself. Hard pass on this group.

They will post the same property literally 40 times on Craigslist. Their services and properties on offer must not be of a desirable quality if they are willing to resort to such spammy practices that burden potential renters in their search.

Writing as a potential renter. I dealt with a very friendly and courteous employee, but the business itself appears to utilize unreasonable policies in the leasing process. Specifically, the hold deposit is wildly overpriced (industry standard is probably about $300, whereas they wanted $1,455 from me), and they also wanted me to pay second-month's rent early for no other reason than "it's our policy" (and of course, that they want as much money up front as possible). Management was not willing to negotiate either position at all. Flexible and reasonable are the qualities I look for in a potential landlord. I found the policies and response to my good-faith request for negotiation of them to be unreasonable and inflexible. They wanted extra assurances without commensurate concessions. Based on my own experience and other negative reviews, I would recommend seeking rentals elsewhere.

Questions & Answers

Is it legal for a management company to charge renters for all repairs and why do you choose to do this to your renters? Why do you repair with parts that do not work, charging your renters again for repair when they exit? Why not be a good company?
