First must be said that Galley food is something I can do without.  Being local, however, I went there now & then thinking it a neighborly thing to do.  Never an issue, always a good tip. This lasted until a trashy male waiter of an unclean appearance aggressively ignored me while serving everyone else. I finally lost patience, banged on the counter, loudly swore & left. "Baaa",  yelled some other trash as I stepped out into the fresh air. Go figure. So I figured, since the Galley is a family place,  that waiter must be some kind of a family idiot. Never stepped foot there since & never will. RE owner's response below: "actually felt quite bad when he realized he didn’t notice you were sitting there with no drink" That's BS. He did notice me just as he noticed everyone else who came after, except he served everyone else & didn't serve me. When after some 20-min wait he began serving someone who just arrived & sat right next to me, I finally had it, slapped the counter & said: "Seriously?!?..." looking straight at him. He still acted as if I didn't exist. Then I said what I said & left. There was no scene. As for his cleanliness, can it be that he forgot to wash that day?.. He didn't look any smart either.

I have been on a quest to find really satisfying fish and chips.....mission accomplished! The fish was well battered, firm, flaky and very tasty. The fries were just the right size, crisp with the proper amount of salt.....the kind of fries that never need ketchup. It was served with a cup of coleslaw and a generous portion of tartar sauce. And the price?......fitting for an old frugal Yankee like me.

Thank you to all who left great reviews!! Because of your feedback we visited this restaurant for breakfast - enjoyed our visits while in Maine! Everyone was welcoming and friendly and great food choices - most affordable too!! We'll be back!!

A local diner in a locals neighborhood with local clientele. From the outside, the feint of heart might be troubled. Inside, you find a clean and carefully kept restaurant which is comfortable and familiar to those of us who love diners. I'd call Jessica a waitress but she seems to do everything up front while serving tables and greeting customers by name. She doesn't shout orders to Chris in the back because a closer look shows the discrete modernized setup this old place holds. The food was fresh, hot and well prepared. They're not trying to impress you with fancy, just give you a great breakfast that's worth the money you pay.
