So happy we found Pals Animal Shelter and adopted three siblings. Both ladies at the shelter were very friendly and nice, and gave us the necessary information for shot updates. Now we need to give our babies the appropriate names for their personalities, especially while they roam through their new home.

Pals is a great no kill shelter on Case Road in East Winthrop. Cats getting ready for adoption spend their days in the Catio (say it like patio) where they can interact freely with each other and with visitors. This provides plenty of time for prospective adopters to get to know an animal and choose one that has proven it can be a good fit. I was especially impressed thst workers knew the history and behavior of each animal and were able to share info to help people identify appropriate animal for their own situation. Cats with HIV or recovering from illness/injury stay in the infirmery for treatment. Pals is open by appointment. There is ample parking and the building is wheelchair accessible, though some places might be a tight fit. Donations are welcome but not required to visit. This should be everyone's first stop if looking for a new cat

I visited 3 days with the cats before bringing my precious baby home. The employees were very kind and knowledgeable about each cat. They look after the cats who await their furrever homes....feeding, loving and providing a roof over their heads. This is a wonderful place and you may also donate to do your part. Thank you Pals for all you do!

This place treats their employees like tools. The board members Brenda and Theresa are lunatics and they consistently break labor laws, such as working employees overtime without pay. They're two of the worst people I've ever met, and by far the worst I've ever volunteered with. They manipulate employees and berate them publicly, in front of other employees, volunteers, and visitors. They will even use cats adopted out to employees to manipulate them, threatening to take cats back they've adopted out to these employees, or even threatening to call the police if they don't relinquish the cats, as if they somehow don't need to take that issue to court like everyone else. They threaten employees jobs by posting their positions as open, and daily will use that as leverage against their employees, while simultaneously accusing those employees of trying to get terminated themselves to receive unemployment benefits. Employees are not allowed to have visitors to the workplace, and will get yelled at publicly for having them, even on their birthdays. Incredibly hostile work environment for every employee there. These two should be nowhere near a position of authority, they should be terminated and the business fined for labor law violations. Not to mention they're just downright terrible to most visitors trying to adopt, it's shocking they manage to adopt any of the cats out. The underlying corruption at PALS is very unfortunate given the purity of their mission.

They do not offer free adoptions. The fees help defer the medical costs for the animals at the shelter
It's not likely they'd change hours. Their hours work for them and their visitors.
Yes. Make sure to make an appointment before arriving at the shelter.
Cats only.
Only one way to find out I'm afraid, call and find out.
They only will accept cats.
