We adopted a Lovely Little tuxedo brat cat from Somerset last year. He was healthy and zoomie. Definitely well cared for. He loves toys and knocking anything off tables and desks. If you are looking for a pet this is a great place to come.

The staff was helpful in getting us a barn cat and a pet cat for our children. They even let us borrow a carrier for the barn cat to return later. They gave us lots of information about how to acclimate both cats so they would be healthy and happy in their new homes.

This shelter was extremely helpful with taking in two feral cats I found living under my porch (in dangerously cold conditions) and making sure they were spayed/neutered and got their shots. They put up with me calling to check on them a lot, too.

Skowhegan shelter has some awesome people who would help in any way they could and if they can't they will definitely point you in the right direction
I'm not sure about community service, but they do appreciate volunteer help at the Skowhegan Animal Shelter.
