Nobody Special
Nice π campground, well worth the stop on our journey. They have some sites with E/W/S, others without so read the description before picking a site. They have a nice HCA path to a fishing dock on the river.

We found this hidden jewel of a Campground to be a favorite. A one road in, one road out that follows the Tennessee / Tombigbee Waterway. Roughly 100 sites with almost half right on the water. Our favorite was site 89, but it doesn't have sewer hook ups (as of June, 2022). As the ranger told us, "all the sites are good ones!".

We loved this campground. There is a trail in the campground that leads to a cypress slough and it is beautiful. Some campsites are reserveable and some are first come first serve. There is really not a bad campsite in the campground. Some sites are next to the river and are very nice. We got half price with America the Beautiful national park pass. This is a Corp of Engineers park. The campground hosts were all very friendly and helpful. People camping in the park were also friendly. Columbus, MS is just a few miles away and has anything you may need to buy.

Absolutely one of the greatest parks we have camped in in the past fifty years. Camp hosts; Virgil and Randy are amazing. We were late returning one night and we received a phone call to βmake sure we were alrightβ. Randy was getting ready to lock the gate and he didnβt want to lock us out. We have never had this quality of camper card in any other campground in any other state. Corp-of-Engineers Rock.

Yes, MS is a red state.
We tried going for the day on Saturday and the park was closed. The ranger didn't say why but the gate was locked. But usually it's five dollars a vehicle and there are picnic areas.
I haven't seen any, but a camp host was bitten by one. We've camped there 3 different times for a week each time and have not seen any.
You can get out, but not back in when the gate is closed after hours.
Yes...but may not be staffed year round. Use Honor Box at gate. Splash pad is not open year round.
