As far as the hike itself, it is cool. Probably better after the rainy season in the spring when it's more green and the poppies are out. Decent amount of elevation to make it a good workout. The parking lot is completely riddled with trash, and it's kind of sketchy to leave your car there. Also the last quarter mile is on a closed road along the freeway. Kind of ugly! We clocked 5 miles and over 2k ft of elevation. We did climb up to peaks off the trail, however.

Checked out the wildflower super bloom during Spring 2019. The trail was also amazing with awesome views. The hills were cool with the orange flowers‼️ 📸’s taken on 3/16/2019

When the wildflowers are blooming this is one of the most stunningly beautiful places I have ever seen. So overwhelmingly moving. But it is absolutely full of people. Millions of California poppies, the state flower, as far as the eye can see. One of of best California pride moments ever.

Walker Canyon is absolutely gorgeous!! Even on this overcast day the wild flowers stood proud! Total, I would say the loop is about 5 miles or so, with many inclines. A moderate hike for sure. Easy to get to from the freeway as well. It was very populated at both ends of the trail but at the top, there weren't many people. It's so peaceful up in the hills.

How much of a hike for an old lady from parking

The trail is an uphill dirt road. It is dusty and exposed to the sun but being a dirt road, it is plenty wide and you can go at your own pace.

Truthfully, it is 'manageable chaos' but SO worth it! A truly "once-in-a-lifetime" event, 2017 was good, but THIS is a lollapalooza SUPERBLOOM!! For 35 years, I have taken that offramp daily, NEVER has it been this AMAZING! If you exit Lake St. and go North, Walker Canyon Road parallels the freeway, park along Walker Canyon Road. During the week may be better, but as soon as it warms up at all, the poppies are gone! Do it!
