The gentleman who rings out my purchases at every visit to this store has always been so knowledgeable and welcoming. He gave great recommendations based on the books I bought and introduced me to my new favorite author. Amazing store, wonderful experience!

A true bookstore gem. Selling new and used books, this is the kind of place you could lose a few hours perusing the bookshelves. The owners are delightful and very helpful, and have been in the book business for over 40 years. Every corner of this unique shop is filled to the brim, with an extensive and unique collection of books. They definitely don't make them like this anymore.

Families with children, do NOT go here. I should have read a few reviews before attempting to visit this bookstore. You are made to feel very unwelcomed. There are at least 3 very wordy "warnings" posted in the store for families with infants to wear their babies. My children are not infants but I still felt the oppression of the shopkeeper's attitude. I wanted to support a local bookstore and I've always had great experiences, but this is not one I can add to the list. My children did not do anything to harm these books except touch regular, non collectable children's books at the front of the store. Honestly, how is a kid supposed to pick out a book if you don't even let them take it out and look at it? If families and children are not welcomed, my suggestion is to not offer any children's books.

It is a beautiful little bookstore. Definitely a place to visit in San Diego! We found out about it last week because they were hosting a book reading for Yale professor Marci Shore presenting her new book "The Ukrainian Night". We really enjoyed it! I think this book store was around for a while and became very famous in the area. They host many books readings with famous authors, and they have many beautiful old books for sale. Highly recommended!

Questions & Answers

Hello! Do you allow book signings at your bookstore? If so who is the person I contact?

I've been there at a meeting with the author & book signing last year (Marci Shore, "Ukrainian night"), so they definitely do that. You could call the phone number and discuss it over the phone.

How’s the comic book selection here?

It's hit or miss. This is more like an old time used book store. You'll find some well-sorted shelves of books and some stacks of old boxes full of who knows what that probably haven't been shifted in years. So i guess it depends on how much digging you want to do, but i wouldn't hold out hope for a comics gold mine.
