This place was was everything I needed after a long night out!!Came here with family for my cousins birthday. Arrived here at 1:05 there was about an hour wait but that didn’t matter. Ellen’s is unique because even with them closing at 2pm as long as we were on the waiting list beforehand they reserved a table for us. We ordered two of the Chicken Fried Benedict with a side fried red tomato’s, Shrimp & Grits, two Big OL’ Breakfasts, and a Peach mimosa carafe. Everything was so fresh and delicious! We wished we could’ve ordered a little bit of everything on the menu! Next time I’m in Dallas this will be one of my first stops.

Found this purely by accident but what a find. Great for brunch or breakfast all day. It also seemed like you could just pop in for food but also bring in the whole crew for drinks and dinner. We did some late (real late) breakfast and brunch. Good eggs and chicken salad. Definitely want to try this place again for dinner and drinks. Jesus was a great waiter! He made it a great experience.

This was a first time experience. The atmosphere was nice and the service was amazing. Our food came out quickly. Probably quicker than I ever had anywhere else. I tried the first menu option, the bowl I think it was called, and it wasn't what I expected. My waitress took it back with a smile. Next thing I know, the manager Aaron comes out and apologizes and tells me my next order is coming quickly. We talked about what I didn't like about my first order and he guaranteed that I would like what was coming next! The next thing I ordered was like a big breakfast sort of thing. Definitely better and met my expectations. The whole experience was worth my hour drive and I told Aaron that my husband and I would definitely be back and would tell others. My husband initially ordered the big breakfast and was never disappointed lol.

Update 1/13/22 Decided to have birthday dinner here and it wasn't as pleasant as our first visit. The waitress (Skylar?) has zero personality and customer service. What made that even worse is we had a big group so she got a $50 tip for doing the bare minimum. My family brought a cake for my birthday and we were told we could not cut/serve it ourselves, they would have to do it for a fee of $25. $25 to cut the cake that I brought!!?? Absurd! The only thing that was cut was our evening, we ended up having to take the cake back home to finish the celebration. Really sad about this. Original post: First visit here. Ordered burger, chicken fried steak, taters, Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. We also got lucky and went on Throwdown Thursday and had half price drinks! The perfect margarita was really good and the cocktails were delicious!

Ellen's never claimed to be black owned. Looks like some reviewers got it wrong. Joe Groves who is a white guy owns the place. He is pretty woke! He posted all the BS comments he heard during an NRA convention and went up against them full throttle. Seems like a super decent dude Staff, customers and the food are diverse. I appreciate that feeling of togetherness (at a distance ;) in these times.
If you think it's smart to bring an animal into a place where food is being served.
It's moderately priced. There are cheaper places, but for the quality the prices are as expected. And WTF Terri you should be tipping that regardless of whether or not you're in a large party, ya cheapskate.
Can be pricey. Plan to hang out and walk around to get your money's worth
On the weekends, it's pretty busy, so I would recommend reservations in general
Yes. They have free internet
I don't think so.....but it's a great restaurant. Good service, great food!!
