Staff was incredibly rude. Your room is shared with multiple other people. However it is located near a couple scenic hikes. Dinner is provided however they don't give you a menu. Needless to say I did NOT leave a tip. Tv did not come with cable. Overall not an awful experience, I would put this resort somewhere between a motel 6 and the Hilton
Bo You Already Know
Not the best for a quiet getaway but worth the trip. If your looking for fun and excitement go on the MT motherF#%*er ride and be sure to bring the bug out 90# pack its a long way...straight up literly.

I was stationed @ MCRD as a Corpsman in the early 90's. It was amazing to see the recruits enter as teenagers and leave as Marines! Oorah!!! I have many memories of MCRD but what stood out the most...I would request the graduating Marines to sing the Marine Corp hymn... Wow, always gave me goosebumps!

How do I get graduation platoon photo
I was a marine in plt 3148. Training started 11-5-1970. Is it possible to get a yearbook?
I’m sure you can Cedric! You could probably even attend a graduation for new Marines. You’d need to call though, I doubt they answer soon here. Ps. There are no ex marines
www.mcrdsd.marines.com Usually at 10:00 AM Through Washington street gate Follow green line on pavement
I believe so. If you have a warrant out for your arrest or are illegal then you shouldn't go
Also try searching internet information from his unit someone who he served with will probably have pictures or more options for you hang in there thank your father for his service
They are at the far side of the off limits basketball court looking thing after they graduate you'll be able to buy one before you go into the theatre
Snail mail is the time honored traditional way. The instructors have nightly "mail call" implemented into the daily schedule. (Usually around 8pm C.S.T. if my memory serves me correctly) This also provides motivation for some Marines during training. I can assure you M.C.R.D will be one of the safest places to be in a hurricane.
I'm not sure. You would have to contact them to know for sure.
Not that I know of. I only one I was ever on was the one at MCRD at San Diego. No practice, just the real thing.
You are allowed to visit. You just need to check in with the gate guards with an ID for all guests and vehicle registration. I recommend visiting the museum on the Depot.
He needs to write to your guys first. Every recruit writes home.
It will not be an easy task the one way that I can recommend is to find other people in boot camp with you again not easy but reconnecting with your Marines facebook, internet reaching out will be even more rewarding. Call USMC base and they might be able to help by journalists on base.. Good luck don't give up
Advice : Visit the base museum. More details on the website. Gaining access requires your drivers license and proof of insurance. Allow time for that process
They have an hotel on base if you have base access if not try something off Rosecrane or near the airport its right next door
They don't reprint them after initial print but the museum has some copies.
Call the main base asked to be directed to the chaplain office building 31
No they don't
You can make reservations on base. There are limited rooms available. Go to mccsmcrd.com and it has the phone number. There is a Holiday Inn in old town that has shuttle service to the base which is convenient if you don't have a car.
Yes lodging is close all around base, Hotel Co. April 15th
Yes, you can absolutely bring food for him/her.
His recruiter
Depends, in most cases recruiters assistance is easily approved. The recruiter sends a request to the command where the Marine is currently stationed. If the Marine is pending school, that command may or may not approve the request depending on how long it'll be until the school starts. Recruiters assistance csn be 10 to 30 days. Best advice call the recruiter and ask
I like your enthusiasm and support, however unless you have a specific business license to operate on MCRD, then I would highly advice to not bring a propane bbq. There will be plenty of food to buy including burgers, hotdogs, sandwhiches. Businesses that are authorize to sell on base will be there as well near the main exchange. Also, if you Google map the main exchange, there's parking on both sides. There are tables and gazebos provided for family and friends to hang out at. Please do not bring any types of propane, butane or anything that can turn into a weapon on base. We do not want the Military Police involve during your family day. Have fun!
Expect it to be either 10 Dec or 17 Dec. Graduations are always on Fridays. Family days are always thrusday. From the actual day your soon to be Marine went, count 13 weeks from that.
I was working there last Friday and I don't recall seeing any family members on the base. When we left the base there was a lot of family members lined up along Washington Avenue adjacent to the airport.
Probably go to MCRD SanDiego website
Maybe at base photos
MCRD is open to only essential personnel. Both are open.
Call Marine Corps Community Services. You can find the number online. As far as I know, the base is closed to visitors due to Covid
https://militaryyearbookproject.com/platoon-photos/usmc-marine-corps-recruit-depot-mcrd-photos/mcrd-san-diego/1960-69-mcrd-san-diego?page=7 Is this what you are looking for Kenny?
As a Marine veteran, and father of a recruit. I will regrettably tell you the way the Army and Marines do things are very different. Recruits of the Marine Corp. don't get to see family, have cell phones during training, and only have written communication unless they are rewarded for taking first place at drill, or on the range. His recruiter should be able help you with what platoon he is in, and the address to write to him. I We were told all graduations are currently private as in no civilians allowed on base, however, they are broadcasting over the internet. Again the recruiter should be able to assist with that information as well. And now you have a very difficult job to do, being a mother who has raised a Marine. He will need you to support his decision to serve his country, to motivate him to be the man you've raised him to be and honor his commitments. The hardest part of that will be to not let him know how much you worry about him, but telling him how proud you are of him.
Sorry...don't know...
MCRD historical society
They all send a letter home stating that they have safely arrived, when their graduation date will be, and where you can send letters.
Not sure...Call M.C.R.D.
They are very accommodating so Go...you'll be glad you did. It's awesome! Semper Fi
A valid government ID such as a driver's license.
Around the end of this month, so long as there's no delay for injury or illness
I would ask permission before and tell them you have unofficially named your dog, Devil Dog.
That's several. Howard Johnson is a good one close by with a shuttle

Tuesday
Yes, they are
You'll typically get a letter back after the 5th or 6th week. The first few weeks is preparing the recruits for bootcamp and they'll get their own address by the 2nd or 3rd week
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that but you might try to contact the recruit training camp.
Yes you will be able to bring your own stroller, as far as dress attire, you can wear anything as long as it's appropriate or nothing to revealing.
I would advise you to contact the San Diego MCRD. unfortunately I no longer have their number, sorry.
There are designated smoking areas for civilians. Recruits are suppose to smoke only when the Drill Instructors are around.
Mexicans do of course have passports and many millions have visas to enter the US. I don't know if the Marines accept Mexican passports and I don't know if they accept Mexican auto insurance if the Mexican wants to enter the base in a car.
You knew how to ask this on Google Maps but not how to actually Google it. Life in the Corps might be rough for you. https://www.mcrdmuseumfoundation.org/photos-and-grad-books
There is not a commissary but there is a sundries shop (convenience store).
12-13 weeks. He'll write and let you know.
I don't believe you can unless someone else wants to sell theirs
Unless you got the one that they give you upon your graduation I wouldn't know.
Yes, dont expect to go into the training area though. You can go to the recruit Px I think Thursdays and fridays for sweet discounts. Or stay on the other side of the base.
Letter about what exactly?
Speak to a recruiter!
Depends on what series you're in, but family day is the last week. Just go to the main gate they'll tell you where to go.
Recruit Training Battalion.
Yes we did in 68 don t think its changed
No
Marine Corps Association presents them a plaque. Also they are meritoriously promoted. Congratulations to you and thank you for your service. Semper Fi.
Absolutely not. His family will be notified by the first letter he sends to them.
If you have a 40 to get in you can take a cab to the gate and they might be able to drive you in from there call the main gate and ask
Call them
Call them
Actually, a foreign national can qualify for citizenship by enlisting in any branch of the military, as long as the character of their service is honorable and they otherwise speak english and the other general requirements of citizenship. Google it or contact a recruiter.
Call the gift shop. They may be able tp help ypu.
There are some pretty good references off of Google.
That's a great question. I would recommend asking someone on that side of the continent.
If you wish to shop at the PX you will need either current or retired military ID. Semper Fi
Go to the MCRD museum or call them, they don't check this google platform. Someone from your platoon may see you on here though.
Probably best to ask museum staff or a historian, put request out to your friends and Marine veteran groups on Facebook and maybe someone else has a copy. Probably won't find it on Google maps, you can't tag any fellow Marines who would know on here like on Facebook. As annoying as FB is, they can be good for somethings
For pictures? They probably have in their museum or historical records
Write or contact the DI for that platoon
Lots of bus station MCRD is in downtown San Diego
Yes, family Thursday will showcase a "motto" run. You will be able to see your Marine run with his platoon. The rest of the day can be spent perusing the accessible locations on base, museum, px, etc. Graduation will require families to be in the stands.
What time for graduation and next date
Yup, with 100s of other recruits complete with your own bossy uptight personal trainer and 3 high calorie poor quality meals for your 3 month stay. .. But if you're just coming to watch a Friday graduation, no, you have to stay in your own hotel offsite.
Contact museum staff
